First trout on a fly rod!

Thursday evening, at camp, I had about an hour and a half off before dinner. I decided to take my fly rod and go play play with the bass and sunfish in the pond. This one kid/guy who is an assistant in the kitchen tells me there are some trout in the creek down at the bottom of the camp driveway and he'd show me where; I'm like sure! So we go down there and he actually gives me like a lesson on where to look for the fish/ read the water/ where to cast,etc... He catches a small brookie on my pole then after a few minutes go swimming and I've got the creek. The fish were a little spooked so I wander downstream and find another hole with some nice brookies in it but they didn't want to bite. I go back up to the first hole, can see where the trout are resting in pool between two boulders and finally I get the cast I want. The dry fly sinks under the water, goes right into the middle of the fish and a real nice one takes it! I got him in, beautiful male brookie, and decide to keep him, being my first fly rod trout and being a decent sized one at 8-10 inches. That night I took him home and my mom and I fried him up in a pan and ate him at like 10pm,lol grin.gif
