Re: Photo Contest ?\'s, Comments...

here is an easy (perhaps the easiest?) way to resize your photos online.

http://www.lan-lord.net/photo_resize.aspx

It has a one-click resize (defaults to 640 pixels), or you can customize how big/small you want them. For this contest you would need to use the custom resize option, and enter 504 (7inches x 72dpi) pixels for the maximum size.

Here is one that I just resized (using custom resize @ 504 pixels) :

Re: Photo Contest ?\'s, Comments...

Any thoughts about having seperate categories in the hand-held contest for true amatures, and the handful of professional or semi-pro photographers that enter the contest. Hard for the average Joe to compete with that level of skill and equipment.

I would consider a pro/semi-pro as anyone who proclaims to be a porfessional photogropher or anyone that has ever been hired for their photography skills, sold personal photographs, has a web page dedicated to their photography, had their photographs published in magazines, etc. Basically those people know who they are and it would be based on honesty.

Anyway, just a thought. Although all the photos submitted last year were awesome, I was actually more impressed with the true amature photos than I was with the more professional grade shots.

I'm definately NO professional, and I definately don't have the money for high end equipment,, but I must say I've been having a blast trying to get some quality photo's,,,, and I think that's Bill's true intent with this contest, is to get more folks involved in photography and nature no matter what skill level or equipment they may have..... wink.gif

Unfortunately I don't think it would be worth the hassle of adding an additional "Pro" category. As it is now is about all I want to take on. Sorry. Honesly, I don't think we have any true professionals on here. And yes, YOU must be the who took the photograph and be able to prove it if asked.

how do you want us to be able to prove it, like the picture I am thinking of entering I have hanging on my wall along with 2 similar pictures. if I took a picture of me next to it would that be enough.

You must be the one that took the picture! Nobody else! Like Bill said too, if asked, you must have proof that it is yours!

Re: Photo Contest ?\'s, Comments...

I was flipping through all of the pictures I have on my computer and realized I had a couple hundred from when I was working in Africa. It just so happened I found a pic I really enjoyed. But thank you VermontHunter.

I know a lot of guys got a kick out of the trail cam of the one fawn mounting the other, but I've got so many trail cam pics that I havent decided on an entry as of yet. I think I've go it narrowed between the two fawns, or when my brother was in the tree with a nice buck under him.

Do handheld cameras include video cameras? I have some pretty nice frozen frames from video cameras, not as good of qualitie as regular ones but still not bad.
