Reloader
I am currently shooting a Browning Compound Bow with a Cobra sight and fiber optic pins. It has a spring style arrow rest and I shoot Carbon Supreme wrapped carbon shaft arrows. I shoot using a Damascus glove, rather than a release, just because I like it. now for the problem, I had been having trouble with the sight pins sitting too low inthe sight bracket for anything over a 40 yard pin, fine for hunting but not for competition. My father in law and I moved a few things arroun including adjusting my peep, moving my knock point down almost 3/4ths of an inch and then moving the spring closer in to the bow to correct the sight issues. during sight in after these changes I fired an arrow which completely bent the spring rest forward. That spring had been on the bow for several years now so we figured it was just old and fatigued. we replaced it and finished sighting in. We then had a safari shoot this weekend and on target 23 the new spring folded on me. I bent it back for the last 5 targets but the POI for my arrows changed by more than a foot at 40 yards, hitting about a foot left and 5 inches low from POA. I also had to bend the spring back into place after every shot since it was weakened. Obviously I need yet another spring, but what can I do to prevent this from happening again in another 100 arrows?!? Any input would be appreciated! Guest lovinbowhuntin247365
Re: Screwy bow question... uhhh get a new sight pin? or crank up your poundage a lil bit, maybe thatll give you more distance ... or just aim high
Reloader
Re: Screwy bow question... At least someone replied... Already tried the new sight idea...same problem. I am shooting about 55# so the draw weight isn't the issue with the sight pins...however I fixed the sight issue by changing the nocking point and a few other tuning problems. Then while sighting in I had my spring style arrow rest bend completely forward. after replacing it the new spring bent after about 100 arrows. The question was how to fix the issue of the spring rest folding after shooting only 100 arrows or so...
Guest lovinbowhuntin247365
Re: Screwy bow question... hmmmm ... well, maybe try lowering the spring rest to meet your nocking point ... itd still give you that extra lil bit of space to shoot with, and it wouldnt put so much stress on the spring ... are you talkin bout a spring loaded fork rest? cuz if you are, then i dont see how the spring would fold ... a pic of the rest owuld be nice so i could see the problem and help you out ... im tryin man, at least im tryin ... MCH
Re: Screwy bow question... Sounds to me like now you're nocking point may be too high. Other than lowering the nocking point, the only solution I can see is buying a new rest. You might want to post this in the bowhunting room, reloader. It gets a lot more traffic. Washi
Re: Screwy bow question... I would actually think your knocking point is too low. That is causing the arrow to slam right into the rest. I think you need to put your knocking point back up and adjust the peep to get your pins moved up.
Guest DrewG
Re: Screwy bow question... when you moved your nock point did you also move your rest? if your arrow is coming out nock low it will cause it to kick real bad... that could be part of it... like lovinbowhunting said.. im tryin man
Reloader
Re: Screwy bow question... I was wondering if the nocking point change may have been the problem. It was the most recent change before the springs started to go bad. I will check it out next time I am in the club shop... I apreciate the responses guys!!!
