How many of you use gravity feeders & pellets?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering how many of you use protein pellets along with your food plots & what attractants do you use with them? I'm talking about if you use a gravity feeder.

I'm going to retry feeding pellets to my herd along with my winter & spring food plots. I tried it a few years back but the racoons would come & rake all the pellets & corn out on the ground. They'd pick thru the pellets eating the corn & it would rain leaving my pellets as mush. I never solved the problem of weaning my deer off shelled corn to the pellets.

I have a new designed feeder with a home made canopy that will limit that problem. Just wondering if any of you have had success with pellet feed & if so with what brand???

I use them extensively and I'm having great success. It took about 6 months before the deer really started utilizing them, now I feed several tons of pellets a year. I get my pellets from a local feed mill and they're 18% protein. Don't add any kind of attractanct. Here's a few pics...

The only picture that came out was the 1st one, but thank you for responding.

My gravity feeder was a setup much like that one except you have 2 drums, I only had 1 & the trough underneath was exactly like the one I used. It was broken off though because the racoons would come night after night & hang from it to reach in & pull the pellets & corn out on the ground.

Did you mix corn with the pellets since you didn't use an attractant?
