Hi folks, I don't know if you get many Brits on here but hi anyway!

I've just got back into shooting as the Pigeons and Rabbits are making a right mess of the back yard.

Treated myself to an Air Arms .22 S200 PCP and here is my first rabbit taken!

Heres to getting the rest of his pals and some of his feathered friends!

Cheers

p.s. My friend has a cool compound bow but hunting with Bows has been banned in the UK for years. frown.gif

[/ QUOTE ]wow, compound bows are banned over there?

We can happily stand in my back yard and use any bow to hit coke bottles. However Hunting live quarry with a bow has been outlawed for many years. frown.gif

The government are dead set on removing any fun activity they can get away with. We need a police approved licence for an air-rifle shooting over 12 lb/ft. You can potentially be locked up for 5 years if you use an over 12lb/ft air rifle without the certificate, AND the police can use any pellets they like to test the power. No air pistol can be over 6 lb/ft and absolutely no private person can own a proper pistol either. The current big push is to get people to hand in their knives in an amnesty. We have to be really careful here before they take away all our fun.

Welcome to the forums!

That really sucks about the bowhunting being banned. Hunting with a stick and string is just the best type of hunting I have ever participated in.

I see in another thread your dad mentions you have an air rifle you mght be selling that puts out pellets at 1000+fps. My s200 is just about at the legal limit here (unless I want to get a cert from the police, have them visit my house, insist on a fixed, locked gun cabinet and pay £30 every time I want to add/remove a gun from the cert!) and it puts out .22 pellets at around 600 fps. Pretty jealous I have to say!

Seriously guys, don't give an inch! It is now illegal to hunt with dogs (Fido, stay at home!) as of this year.

On a happier note it was quiet day out in the field. Didn't come back with anything but saw some nice scenery!

I remember last year when all the riding gear that your fellow countrymen/women used for Fox hunting flooded Ebay.

Thanks for the Reminder of our priveleges here!!!

man i hate to hear that about all the restrictions yall have. I sure hope we dont end up like that!!

That's the way politics is going in the UK. For example, Govt senses public are unhappy about Knife crime. Law proposed to ban Samurai Swords suggested and Bins provided at Police Stations so knives can be handed in. Govt sits back and says it has helped take 500,000 knives off the streets.

Oh yeah, because all the muggers will have handed in their weapons because they were asked nicely? And as for banning samurai swords?? How many muggers can hide away a 4ft long sword and catch you unawares?

Its pathetic, like the banning of Fox Hunting it's something that be made a law without too much fuss (as its a minority interest) and it makes them look good. if they *really* cared about animal welfare they'd shut down the awful factory farms that have thousands of animals suffering in them. That will never happen as it'll upset the masses who don't see food as cutesy animals unlike poor little foxes...... smirk.gif
