Jeramie
I just got word that my boss turned in his two weeks notice. He has been here forever and pretty much holds the group together! I know that isnt really as shocking for everyone else but its like Gilligan's Island without Gilligan! We are swamped busy and things arent looking better as we are selling more every day. Work just got real complicated.....

Newarcher
Re: Wooow.... Take his job! Right on big fellah. You say potato, I say opportunity! People come,....people go. It is bad though when it is someone you are depending on. Perhaps he was walked and allowed to resign....that could be bad. New

This sounds like an opportunity for you. Go for it man!!!
Newarcher
Re: Wooow.... Right on Harvdog,....no one ever leaves around my place and we have very few managers. I am getting ready to start cutting brake lines on cars to create some opportunities here! New

You probably want to stick with the legal ways though.
Newarcher
Re: Wooow.... When I am done, I will add cutting the brakelines as "blazed new pathways to open new career paths within the organization" to the old resume. Nah, the managers are a bunch of jerks.....might just disable the airbag and loosen the seatbelt nuts as steps 2 and 3! New
Jeramie
Re: Wooow.... [ QUOTE ] Any reason why Jeramie? [/ QUOTE ] Another job. The bad part is, this is the kind of guy that would stand up for us in turnover meetings (we dont go to turn over meetings) and would fight for our department. Now that he's gone Im sure we have some room to move up but we are going to catch more flack from the "High Ups." Up to this point he has shed that for us. Unless they replace him with someone willing to redirect bull then we will have to hear it. On the upside, as busy as we are this is a great chance to shine. I dont know how realistic that is but im going to try to take advantage of it.
Newarcher
Re: Wooow.... Start spreading rumors about your fellow co-workers. Being new, it is your only chance to get the job this soon. Let's see......drinking on the job, soon to be tranny, fugitive from justice, catting around with the big-boss's wife, etc. I hate change, I really do. It seems that as soon as you get comfy with a good company and boss, the company gets sold or the boss gets fired! GRRRR.... Good luck, New
Jeramie
Re: Wooow.... Yep, change isnt necessarly good! I just got settled in and am becoming efficent. Now we have to work around training the new boss (whomever that might be). They do reward around here so im going to really start picking up slack on these projects and see how and when they notice. I may not move up in rank but money is always good....
Guest SLBDEERHUNTER
Re: Wooow.... If you start doing more, take my advise and make sure they notice, I have been doing half the work in a three person department for 7 years and mangements knows but they still want reward me! I am now going back to school and soon they will be missing me.
wtnhunt
Re: Wooow.... New management can go either way. Hope for the best for you. My most recent experience with change in management was not by any means good.
Exturkinator
Re: Wooow.... Another consideration might be to have a conversation with him - If you are on good terms with him I would definitely talk to him privately about this and tell him what your thinking as he may: 1) give you valuable insight into what may happen or 2) give you pointers on how to deal with the "higher ups" or 3) he may throw in a good word for you or 4) he may offer you a better job at his new place... Guest woodsnwater
Re: Wooow.... As the others mentioned, step up your pace jeramie, they may notice & offer you the job. Also when you work as hard as you can & give the company everything you got it makes you feel better at the end of the day knowing you gave all you had. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Wooow.... hang in there Jeramie, maybe he found something better or it was his time to move on. Good luck with the workload, step up if your called upon and if needed, become the leader.
Jeramie
Re: Wooow.... He actually is leaving his cell phone number if we need anything. Thats the reason I hate to see him go, thats the kind of guy he is. Anyway, he has already bragged up the Burner Drafting and Design. We have a good word thanks to him. Im not sure what they have figured for his slot. We have such a workload that they are willing to let us work from home right now too (weekends and evenings). Its insane. They have sold enough work to keep us on serious overtime for the rest of the year! I get here early and leave a few minutes late and make some good cash. Im going to really, really hook up over the next month or so. Again, this company rewards merrit so it shoudl pay off in the long run. It will be a month but I will let you know how thing are going! [/ QUOTE ] This is something that has always bothered me...If YOU have to "train" the new boss, then why were YOU not made the new boss instead It happens in every company though...the "high-ups" that are supposed to be good a making logical business decisions do some really boneheaded things sometimes!
