GWSmith
Re: Draw length Go to your local Pro Shop..or: You could go to a web search engine like Google or Webcrawler. Type in "How to measure draw length"...You'll find a bunch of different links that way. Good Luck.
Jeramie
Re: Draw length Have a proshop, basspro, etc around? They typically have a bow that you draw and it marks an arrow to your draw. Those things are the best thing since sliced cheese.
wtnhunt
Re: Draw length That chart is pretty close Gary, or at least was for me. I am about 6'2" and my draw length is 30".
Jeramie
Re: Draw length Its not very close to me. Im 5'-8" and im shooting 28! Thats long I know but I even had the bow fit to me.

Leo
Re: Draw length Better to err an inch too short versus an inch too long I'm 6' 5" so I'm off the chart! Arm span is 80" so that would put me at a 32" draw. I'm quite comfortable shooting 31" For the most part arm span is very close to height. I'd pick whatever dimension is shortest, divide by 2.5 and start there.

Buckslayer
Re: Draw length Everyone's different, so its best to draw an actual bow IMO like those they have at Cabelas for determining draw length (they are sweet)... I'm 5'9", and draw 28"... so I'm slightly less ape than Jeramie
GWSmith
Re: Draw length Well it's been awhile since I checked... I used the yardstick method thats in the first picture. http://www.bows.net/howtomeasure.htm I shoot a 28.5" draw length and I'm 6' tall...using their measuring process...it's right on! That is pretty funny Jeramie, I actually used to get picked on a bit playing basketball when I was younger for my arms seeming a bit long(had a pretty good reach), but looking at the chart, they are really not all that much longer than average. Guest TailChaser
Re: Draw length I think there is a couple of you "Gorillas" that I would not want to meet in the woods Thanks for the help. Based on the chart and my wing span divided by 2.5, draw is 29".
mike
Re: Draw length stand by a wall and reach your bow arm out with a fist move to the wall until your fist touches stand straight like your holding your bow have someone measure from the wall to the corner of your mouth that will get you close
VTbowman
Re: Draw length IMHO its best to determine your "REAL" draw length by using a bow and a measuring arrow. A bow set to wahtever weight you will be holding at full draw. The one thing that all the "charts" fail to add to its calculations is draw weight. Maybe not as critical for compounds with 65% to 80% let off, but try it with a trad bow where your holding full bow weight. You may calculate out to a 27.5" draw length (or whatever yours may be) but put 55# to 65# full draw weight and that drops down to 24 to 25 inches. Thats what I faced when switching to trad archery. I was surprized to see how much loss I had in draw length.
Guest woodsnwater
Re: Draw length Also determining draw length is if you shoot fingers or a release, or an overdraw on the Bow.
