AdvantageTimberLou
The wife yesterday surprised me, then again she always surprises me. Her and her dad go Geo searching which is basically taking your GPS and using coordinates found off an internet site to find hidden tubes that have trinkets in them in your surrounding area you live in. Anyone can do it as they are located all across this great country of ours. You find the tubes using the coordinates they give you, you find it, you can take a trinket and leave something behind in the tube and hide the tube where you found it. Its kind of like treasure hunting but with GPS's. Her and her dad love it! Anyways, she says what do you think about me buying a GPS? Now I have one myself but it does not do what she wants, mine is pretty basic, I mark my woods and stand locations and that is about it. So I said sure and off we went shopping for them. Wal-mart had the one she wanted online (Garmin E-trex Legend) for $122.00. Go to Wal-Mart and they want $169.00 for it!! Way more than their online store and they do not honor their online prices. So we go to Gander Mountain and they had it for $149.00. They matched the online Wal-mart price of $122.00. I did not know they matched online prices until I asked them. Service at Gander Mountain was great too, I had a $10.00 gift card I got free at a hunting expo this past spring so it only cost us $112.00. Then seeing that we spent over a $100.00 they gave us a $20.00 gift card. The wife is happy and I got a $20.00 gift card so in reality I made $10.00 by giving up my gift card I got at the hunting expo. (the wife let me keep the gift card) Then again I did buy her new GPS! Never knew they matched online prices but I will continue to support my Gander Mountain! Just thought I would share this experience and let you know they will honor online internet prices. Not too often a wife asks for a GPS!! Now if I lose her she can find her way back home!! LOL!!

AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Gotta love Gander Mountain! [ QUOTE ] That is cool Lou. Kind of surprised that wal mart would not honor their own pricing. [/ QUOTE ] I thought the same thing, online Wal-mart is a huge savings over the store but the store we were at did not want to honor it. That is considered an "online" deal only. Maybe if we would have caused more ruckus they would have. This is the same place telling me when I was going to buy a turkey license I needed a small game license as well if I was going to hunt turkeys. Told them I did not, never had in the past, lady wanted to argue about it. Told her I'll go elsewhere and buy it. I also contacted the DNR the next day and they said you do not have to, the turkey license is the license. Not sure how many people this salesperson got on that deal but I was not going to be one of them!!! Much rather give my money to Gander Mountain. I'll use Wal-Marts volume and them being able to have low prices as a result of mega buying but I'll buy at Gander Mountain if they'll match it!! GWSmith
Re: Gotta love Gander Mountain! Definitely appreciate this! Thank You Sir!!! Though my Wife may want to talk to you if she ever finds out Theres a Gander Mountain store about 30mins or so from me where I do most of my "In Person" shopping for hunting gear. The closest Bass Pro Shops is about 2 hrs away and the closest Cabelas is 5 hrs plus away LOL...When the Wife and I are near the store for some reason the truck seems to have a mind of it's own...she just rolls her eyes and says "Go if you have to" Last year I bought a rangefinder and a 270 there and so far this year I got a Muzzleoader. Now I can search the internet for deals on stuff and then let the truck go where it wants to go One question...Did you print out the deal on the GPS and show them that...how did they handle this??? Newarcher
Re: Gotta love Gander Mountain! Awesome, now you need to hack into the firmware and reprogram it so that every 28 days or so, it sends her somewhere else for a few days! [ QUOTE ] One question...Did you print out the deal on the GPS and show them that...how did they handle this??? [/ QUOTE ] GW, That is the thing, we just gave them our word. Wife found it online, we mentioned if they honored online deals and they said yes. The guy went into the back room and came out about 5 minutes later. Maybe they have a PC back there and it has internet hook-up and he can verify it. Whatever the case, the girl at the check-out knew the price and made the change at the register. You can print out a copy that would work, then again maybe they think you altered it. I would think they check online or call. I was impressed. I never thought they would have honored online deals. I know they honor magazines because we did this last year on my mother in laws crossbow. Father in law got a magazine that showed it cheaper. Told him lets go back, what have we got to lose. We ended up walking out of Gander Mountain with $90.00 in cash, they honor the price and the difference!! I would call your local GM GW and ask them. Mine did in Saginaw, Michigan. Assume its corporate wide. And New, my wife is pretty smart, tampering with her GPS would mean she would tamper with my hunting stuff and I don't need that! Plus she has more patience with GPS's than I do!!!
GWSmith
Re: Gotta love Gander Mountain! You know this could have ramifications on the gear I buy from you Print out the deals you put in the classifieds here and then go to the store....LOL Thanks man I really do appreciate this...could save quite a bit of money over time
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Gotta love Gander Mountain! Not sure they would honor "AdvantageTimberLou's" deals but try it and make sure you have a camera to catch their reaction, I want to see that moment in time! Advantage what? LOL!! Like I said GW, it was news to me too that they would honor an online deal but maybe its part of the new global way of doing business. Do whatever it takes to keep a customer happy! They did with us last night, that is for sure!
