bulldawg
Re: What do you pull? When I was 15, I hunted with a Bear Grizzly recurve...65#. In my early thirties, and for 8 years, I had my compound set at max...82#. At that time, I was using 160 grain Thunderheads. When you poked a deer at less than 10 yards with that set-up, you could almost feel a recoil effect, which gave you a nice rush! Went to 70 pounds until about 3 years ago, when the Rheumatoid Arthritus kicked in. I'm down to 55 pounds now, and may have to hang the bow up soon, for a crossbow. It's getting harder and harder to walk though, so may just give it up for more fishing. It sucks to get old, long before your time... Tony
Re: What do you pull? i shoot 54 lbs for my Indoor target bow. 63 lbs for hunting and 65 lbs for 3D. my hunting bow setup is best at 63 lbs. i can pull a lot more 70+ but i dont have to. i get just as good of performance out of my Hoyt bows at lower poundage. plus its a lot easier on me and easier to come to full draw on a deer with little motion. BowJoe
Re: What do you pull? I shoot around 60 lbs. but I mainly shoot for what I am both comfortable and accurate with. No need to miss fast when I can drill em' slow. LOL

PAbowhunter4life
Re: What do you pull? [ QUOTE ] Ahhhh, youth. See how much you can pull, just to say you can pull it. It's not about weight, it's what you can get drawn comfortably and kill efficiently. [/ QUOTE ] I agree 100%, that's why I am preserving my shoulder and only pulling 70# as opposed to something higher. As you said, I could do 80# or more to be He-Man, but 70# @ 80% let off is very comfortable for me, which is why I elect not to go any higher. Rhino
Re: What do you pull? My compounds are 64# & 65#. My recurve is 54# at 28". Just my opinion but for hunting if you can't draw your bow straight back minimizing movement., you're pulling too much weight. I see bowhunters every year that think they have to be pull lots of weight and go through some sort of wierd contortions to draw their bows. I've taken every animal home that I've drawn on!
Switchback29A1
Re: What do you pull? 68 during hunting season. I shoot with 70 during the summer just to build up and then back off about 2 turns to compensate for being cold and all those clothes.
