Hey guys, I know you're all ready for season to arrive but I thought I would take a minute and ask about what we do as bowhunters. WE all have our little superstitions and small things that we do. Just wanted to see what kinds of things you guys do in the woods or even before the hunt. Just a fun post, thought I would see what you guys had to say.

Re: Bowhunting Rituals?

I listen to the radio on the way to each hunt and try to find a lucky song....grin.gif

Last year it was Brad Paisley's "When I get to where I'm going."

So this year if that song plays, I may stay in stand a little longer and little more still.grin.gif

That's funny! I thought I was the only one with a lucky song thing. I thought I would get smart and buy the cd. Didn't work. I have to hear it on the radio on the way to the woods. Good news is I have a 45 minute drive.

About the only "Ritual's" that I do is make absolutely sure my release is fastened to my Bow's riser, I have my pull rope among the gear I cram into my fanny pack and those items must also include my License and a Knife!

Thats about what I do I'm always going over making sure I have everything with me so I can enjoy a nice long sit.

Re: Bowhunting Rituals?

I always listen to Country Music and only Country on my way. And if we going camping the night before I ALWAYS forget my boots. There has been many times I woke from a dead sleep and it hits me that I forgot them. And the night before opening day is always the the most restless night of the year for me.

Well,I kinda have a weird thing I do with my quiver when I get to my stand.I use a Bohning quiver that has a little orange lever to lock the quiver in place. When I get to my stand I take off my quiver and hang it on a hook, and I ALWAYS flip that little lever back to the lock position even though it's not holding anything.I tried to let it alone one morning last year and it drove me nuts!

Re: Bowhunting Rituals?

i drink coffee which usually comes back to haunt me. make sure I have everything especially my release and back up release because I once dropped it out of a tree. when I get in the tree I say a prayer and I draw my bow back and check my shooting lanes.

I am a chronic over packer. i pack up things that i may or may not need then i feel the need to check and recheck everything the night before. when i do go hunting I pick one special arrow to use until i get a shot. then if the arrow is still good, i put another broadhead on it and use it again.

Ditto here, also before the season I get a hair cut and ah ah shave my pits shocked.gif. Did it last year cause I heard an old timer tell about it and it really cut down on odor in that area, and I always bath with no scent soap before I go. I'm sort of a scent control freak.
