Easy Tick Removal

I had a friend of mine in the Healthcare industry send this to me...

I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great , because it works in those places where it's some times difficult to get to with tweezers:

between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.

Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the

soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away.

I'll have to try this method instead.

Don't do that! I tried that on my brother one time with a cigarette. Killed it right in the skin! Finally got the head out with a needle and tweezers! A vet told me to use Vaseline, it will smother them and make them back out on their own. Just like the soap trick!

Re: Easy Tick Removal

Just get your wife's melon baller and dig both the tick and the surrounding tissue out.....just to make sure you don't leave a leg or the head! laugh.gif

If I have any doubt, I will just get a knife and dig out the surrounding tissue. Rather have a scar than lyme disease!

Doesnt matter! Once the tick gets into the blood, the spirochete (sp?) or whatever carries the Lyme disease is in your system in a matter of minutes! Maybe seconds!
