Guest MattA311
Re: how high????? [ QUOTE ] Same here too. However I have 1 stand that needs to go higher. Every year I get busted by a certain doe, I am sure of it. And every summer I look at the stand from the ground and convince myself its good. Well again this year I got busted. No way a "normal" deer would bust me and I see plenty from the stand believe me. Its just this one old girl. Next year I am going about 8 to 10 feet higher to a fork in the tree. Its the perfect tree and moving it to another would kill one shooting lane or the other on distance... Got to go higher. However I like 18 to 20 feet so going 25 to 30 may be weird. I will of coarse practice for this height change but still. It will be weird but its getting personal.... Good Luck to you! [/ QUOTE ] If it's the same deer she may of just got used to your location and is used to checking it. The height may not make a differnce.. this has happened to me as well. IMO your best bet is to just switch trees.
buckblaster
Re: how high????? [ QUOTE ] Usually around 20 to 30 ft. But I have one stand loacation that I get up around 45 or 50 ft and I can really stretch out my .300 wby. Heights never bothered me but I always use a safety harness. jerdanmagic
Re: how high????? I have always huted from trees, tripods and elevated box blinds 15-20 feet tall, but this year was my first time to ever deer hunt from a ground blind and I love it. I've shot 3 deer from the ground with my bow. 35yrds, 20yrds and about 10 feet. The las one was absolutely nuts. A big ol' doe came haulin in and stopped at about 10 feet in front of me, so you know I had to let her have it!

Tony
Re: how high????? usually the amount of cover in the tree and the location of the stand dictate on how high i go... most are over 20 feet and some as high as 30 or so....i shot my doe out of a stand that was about 32 feet this year .... oh yea and a good safety harness is mandatory.....
