VTbowman
Who uses what and how well do they work...? I have a set of Primos synth. antlers and, to me, they sound real good but are somewhat a pain to pack in. Thinking of a rattle bag but to be honest I have had zero luck rattling but still want to try it out. Any comments are welcome. Thanks. dogdoc
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? i actually think my rattle back sounds better than the synthetic antlers i have. i have had good luck with the bag---I called in 2 different bucks with them during the last week. i combine it with some grunts and the bleat can. todd
VTbowman
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? Seems easier to carry too... LOL I may pick one up for next fall. Its getting to late in this area to make rattling effective... I think...
ScottyLuck
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? I've got a rattle bag and, like you, have not had much success rattling period. Personally, I think there's no real substitute for real horns. snapper
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? I have to agree...real is better. Although a little tougher to carry along, I believe real antlers sound better than synth or any bag. JMO.
JimT
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? Real is probably better for sure. I have used my Primos synthetics a few times now, with no luck.
MuZZyMomentZ
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? I use a rattle bag... since I have started hunting with it I have rattled in several smaller bucks. I also use a grunt call and a bleat can. Hillbilly
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? I rather use real antlers, My dad found a decent size rack one year and I've used those ever since. Yeah they are a pain in the hiney to carry those in, but I rather have them when I need them. Rattle bags are also a good choice. I like the real antlers better, just a natural noise to me. I've rattled in 3 bucks with the rattle bag, so yes they do work, but I rather use the real antlers. Each his own I guess
need2hunt
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? I've used a rattle bag the last 3 years or so with little to no luck... at the beginning of November I finally started using real antlers... called in a couple bucks with them and had several more respond but did not come all the way in... I'll be sticking with the real antlers from here on out.
VTbowman
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? The prob with real horns is you gotta either shoot or find them... LOL Its hard to rattle with a 4 pointer... LOL I will stick with my Primos synth set and maybe try out a rattle bag. Unless anyone wants to send me a set of big antlers...??? I didn't think so..... Guest KSNimrod
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? I've used both real sheds and a rattle bag with success. As a bow hunter I like the bag because I can hang it next to me and use it with one hand against the tree without much movement if need be. However, it won't get the volume that real antlers will get. The real thing comes in handier on a windy day. Keep in mind though that flashing white is very visible. Have a buddy rattle in a stand from 100 yards away and see if you can pick him out.

Tominator
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? i have a pair of matched sheds and a rattle bag. to be honest, the rattle bag is much more effective for various reasons, but the best reason is portability. SaskMan
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? Cam, that yard looks like it may be hard on weed whipper string. By the way what is your address, I could stop by next time I'm in Saskatoon, hopefully you won't be home and I can get over the fence withour being seen. wtnhunt
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? Really have not had great results here with rattling. Got a knight and hale bag this year and have not had any deer come in to my rattling with the bag. I have had younger bucks come in to real antlers though. Have even called them in across the river a few times with the real antlers, but none of the bucks I have had come to rattling have ever been shooters. Have never tried synthetic antlers. billygoat
Re: Rattle bags vs. Synth. horns vs. Real horns? Rattle bag has worked for 3 years straight for me. The first time I tried to rattle, I brought in a young buck, the next year I used it to coax in a mature 9 point, then this year I rattled in my wife's bruiser and I missed a huge 12 that I managed to rattle in. Have never tried synthetics. Also the rattle bag I use has hardwood as opposed to plastic... don't know if it makes a difference or not.
