Guest Andrea Posted July 5, 2006 Report Share Posted July 5, 2006 Sorry, I don't have a pic, will try to get one. But I have been seeing a lot of strange "balloons" in the waters around here lately. They are huge. They are firm, but slimy. Brown with white star shapes on the outside. They are attached to logs or weeds. Anyone ever see this before? I emailed the FWC about it and am waiting for an answer. Someone said it was crappie eggs. But I've never heard of a fish making an egg "sack"----especially this big. It's something called freshwater bryozoa. Here's the link to the pic and info. (Very interesting!!!) The first picture shown is what I have been seeing. It was light enough so I reeled it up and one of those things was on the branch...it freaked me out to say the least. It was the first and only one I've seen.
