Guest Bowhunter2114
To everyone who has sent their thoughts and prayers our way over the past few weeks, Thank You!!! To those that do not know me or what happen please take a minute to look in the lounge fourms. But in short my brother was killed by someone running a red light on his way home from work. He would have graduated high school 5 days later. I posted the following in 2 other areas but did not get much of a response. so i am hoping this area is more in tune with 3D shoots. And a huge thanks in advance. I am writing this time, looking for help/suggestions on the Memorial Shoot I want to hold for my brother. But I do not want this to be just a memorial but a chance to get more people involved in bow hunting or just shooting a bow. I introduced Jody to bowhunting 5 years ago, and ever since that day he never put his bow down. He began shooting in 3D shoots and has done so for the past 3 years. he was going to a shoot the weekend of his accident. Jody and I got our little brother Ricky shooting when he was 10. And Ricky harvested his first deer his first seaon out last year. both Jody and I were there to share the moment with him and couldn't have been more proud. So I am asking for ideas out side of just the shoot to make this successful. Ideas I have is to have a introductory to Archery for youth/first timers. Does anyone know of a group/organization that does such a thing. I have heard/read in a hunting Magizine about a group that goes around and teaches Archery in schools. I am also looking for ideas for the shoot itself. The hunting club that Jody belonged to said we can host the shoot there. so I have the targets and area to have the shoot. I was thinking of also having a BBQ, 50/50 and getting local hunting stores to sponsor targets and putting their name/sign by each target much like a golf tournament. Also going to see if I can get some items to raffle off or gift certificates as door prizes. I also thought about having a money shot or 50/50 shot...putting the last target or a target at 50 yards and putting a dot on it. If you can hit the dot you would win the money. You get one shot for $x. So if anyone has ideas, suggestions or experience in holding a Memorial Shoot please let me know. Also if anyone has resources or contacts that may help make this successful please let me know. Thanks again for your continued support. Guest woodsnwater
Re: Memorial Bow Shoot for my brother. (Need you Help) You have some pretty good ideas. After you have put something together try contacting some of the Companies of the equipment you shoot, they may help donate or send a celeb. to help draw a crowd. Have the local radio stations advertise it for you. For the 1st year maybe hold just a shoot in his honor and then build on it from there. The key is to get the word out & I am sure volunteers will step up to the plate. Hope this helps a little. Good thing you are doing, Good luck to you.
