VTbowman
Ok I need to get an idea on what I want/need for a hi-tec sock for my x-mas list to my mother-in-law. Heres my deal: I wear calf high rubber boots, quite simular to LaCrosse style. (Rangers) They are 600 gram thinsulate and in temps over 40*F to 50*F my feat sweat badly when walking out then freeze once on stand. Uninsulated boots seem just as bad and worse once the "freeze" part starts... LOL I have regular cotton and wool blend socks as of now and know NOT to wear the cotton gym socks at all. But the wool and wool blends seem to just make my feet sweat to much... Plus the inside of my boot will be moist after a 3 hour morning hunt, already one step towards "wet" for the evening hunt. They do not seem to dry completely in the 2 or so hours during the mid day break. What do I need for socks? They will be ordered from Cabelas so suggest stuff they have. Thanks!!!! snapper
Re: NEED hi-tec socks suggestion!!! ASAP! You need to wear a thin sock under your wool socks. There is many different kinds of thin (wicking) socks and any should work fine. Also, make sure your boots aren't too tight. The tighter the boots, the more your feet will sweat and harder for the blood to circulate. Need room to wiggle your pigs!
JimT
Re: NEED hi-tec socks suggestion!!! ASAP! Wear a wicking sock, then a wool sock, then a fleece sock. Thats what I do now. On real cold morning use These . I put them on top of my toes, not in the middle of my foot. These little things are like gold!!!!
