Agressive little garter snake...

Recommended Posts

We usually find snakes on our land upstate, mostly garters but the occasional eastern diamondback and copperhead are seen. We usually catch them and mess with them a little bit and then let them go. We found this guy in the field close to the house. It was just a garter but an agressive one to say the least. My dad picked him up by his tail and he opened his mouth and tried to strike. He then put him down on the ground and put his foot on top of him and that's when I snapped these pics:

And we let him go shortly after the pics. wink.gif

Cool pics Joe. Dont see too many of them around here, mostly see racers and copperheads and cottonmouths. Saw a crap load(probably close to 2 dozen) cottonmouths and copperheads in the bottom when I was on the tractor bush hogging on the fourth.

Was that before, or after you got bonked on the head?

Cool pics Joe. Some of them do tend to be more aggressive than others. Some of them really smell too.

I haven't seen one snake yet this year, which is unusual.

If he was stomped he wouldn't have wiggled away confused.gif I had it in my hand for a few minutes( I caught it didnt I?) and it kept snapping at me. I wasn't about to see it if could bite me, so I put it down, held it with my foot , told Joe to get the camera and take a few pics.

Don't worry... no snakes were harmed in the making of this post grin.gif

Before Chris, they were over on the side that is more flooded. After getting out from under the trees, I finished up only part of what little I had left and headed back to the house, did not see any snakes after hitting my head.

I guess they all saw you get bonked and figured you're too tough an SOB to deal with, so they belly crawled on out of there. cool.gif
