Re: Clay target thrower

I bought these a couple of years ago, thinking about getting 2 more. I dont throw a ton of targets but probaly throw more than the average guy at home. They are easy to set up and a battery charge last for about 2000 birds. They hold 200+ tagets each and can throw everything but rabbits and a true teal. Since getting them I sure have a bunch of "friends" that want to borrow them grin.gif

Get one of these and find someone with a good golf swing to throw it!

When you can consistently hit birds that are thrown with this, you'll have no problems with ducks, geese or doves. If you shoot a skeet choke, you have about .75 seconds between the time of release and the time the clay is out of range. With a full choke you can extend that time out to a whopping 2 seconds! Try it, it's a great way to humiliate and humble your friends!!! grin.gif

Re: Clay target thrower

I'm not sure what kind his is, but my Dad's got a backyard setup that his buddies all envy. Several years ago he acquired an OLD self loading trap thrower from a local gun club that was upgrading. He built a cinder block trap-house and ran buried electricity to it for power. That old trap was difficult for one guy as it would often have problems feeding birds into it and seemed there was frequently more down time tinkering than you had shooting. It finally broke down to the point where he couldn't find the parts to make the necessary repairs.

He upgraded to a new automatic thrower that's a real dream. It'll hold a hundred targets of various sizes, is self loading, and one man can operate it and shoot at the same time thanks to a voice activated trigger. He clips a lapel mike to his shirt, says the magic word and the target is thrown. It's "like buttah."

Depending on how heavily you're going to use it, the do-all trap should serve you well. It's somewhat of an entry-level thrower, but you should get a lot of use out of it.

Oh, and I failed to mention these are operated with a 12V deep cycle battery. I have a wireless remote system where you can throw singles, report pairs or true pairs easily. They are totally adjustable for angle and speed etc..and are easily moved. In an open area you can set the traps about 70 yards apart say....with a right crosser and a long incoming bird...then you can walk in a 50 yard circle and get all sorts of different looks without moving the traps. It's alot of fun!

You have that right...I used some large zip ties on a hand thrower about 15 years ago and if you give a full swing ...They have jets....Wow..

I was cruising through Bass Pro Shops the other day and ran across this...

I was wondering if anybody had one of these or knew if they were worth the money. I would love to get one to save the hassle of throwing them with the junky thrower we have now.

My dad has this one that you have listed and it works great. I hate the handheld throwers, half of the time the clay breaks apart while loading or trying to throw. Spend the money if you will get good use out of it. IMHO
