Bucks coming along nicely

Recommended Posts

Below are pics of the bucks we are watching behind the house here in Rockland.

The dominant buck seems to be a high racked 7pt so far. I say he is the dominant buck because of the way he slaps all the other bucks around. Even though he has less points than the other 8pt, he still slaps him around.

The high racked 7pt:

This buck I have watched since he was a fawn. He has not developed brow tines in 3 his now 3 years of life. His first year he was a tall spike. His second year he was a 5pt. Small forks and he tacked on a little browtine, but not much. This year, this is him:

The buck I dubbed Stripe because of the white stripe on his right side:

A real small 6pt.. He will walk even if he walks by my stand. I want to see how he ends up a few years down the road. But if he comes by late in the season and I still haven't shot a buck yet, the arrow will fling. wink.gif

Re: Bucks coming along nicely

Nice pics Joe. If I were you, I'd definitely shoot the buck with no browtines before any of the others. Missing browtines are a solid indicator of genetic inferiority. That little 6 point is probably a 1.5 year old deer and he's showing really good genetics. Let him walk and you'll be doing the herd a big favor.
