Guest Andrea
What do you guys prefer...............fishing in a lake or a river? I haven't had much luck on lakes. I do all my fishing in the river. However, I do like to fish the "lakes" that are right off the river. We call them "slews". Not sure how you spell it. maddhunter
Re: Lake or river? I enjoy fishing in both. I like bass and crappie fishing along the banks of the lakes. And catfish and sand bass in the rivers and, creeks that dump into the rivers. I also enjoy some springtime snagging for spoonbill below one of our many hydroelectric dams. Shaun_300
Re: Lake or river? This is a tough question, I'm gonna say lakes. Mainly because I mostly fish on the lakes around my grandma's for bass, pike and musky and always have good luck.

I prefer the great lake up north of me--Erie, walleye capital of the world. Although I don't get there anymore. I used to go out all the time, my dad used to live for it. I still know all the reefs around Kelleys Island like the back of my hand.

LifeNRA
Re: Lake or river? Both!!! largemouths in lakes, smallmouths and walleyes in rivers! In PA, we had the best smallmouth bass fisheries this side of the Mississippi at one time! Susquehanna river! Only 30 miles from me too! But now it is the most endangered river in the USA. OUTSIDER
Re: Lake or river? I will go with streams. Here where i live there are more streams than you can shake a stick at. I always do best for muskie, sauger, crappie, smallies, trout, in the small to medium size streams.
slughunter
Re: Lake or river? I like fishing in lakes for bass, musky, walleye, northern, and fish like that. but I also like fishing strams for trout here in WI -shane
Jeramie
Re: Lake or river? It all depends on the fish. As dwin stated above, for spoonbill you cant beat a river. Cats are pretty good too. For spawning Channels and Sandbass (whitebass) lakes hands down. You can have some good luck on a river but nothing beats 6:00am on cold still water, watching a school of bass tearing into Shad! muggs
Re: Lake or river? I absolutely love fishing the currents of rivers and streams, and I love trout fishing more than any other fishing. But like Tominator said, the walleye on Erie is the best in the world, and catching 40 huge perch in a few hours while drinkin a Bud is also hard to beat. RangerClay
Re: Lake or river? I could not choose one over the other. I catch my trout in a river and my walleye in a lake. But let me tell you one thing. Once you have have caught a 3 pound smallie (not one of those sissy largemouth) in a river with current you will never fish steelhead again Ranger
