slughunter
Re: favorite deer food? [ QUOTE ] What are some of your favorite brands? [/ QUOTE ] brands???? I have found that a plain salt block from sams or farm and fleet works the best, the deer love them out at my place, better than the salt blocks from wild game innovations. just my .
wtnhunt
Re: favorite deer food? For minerals we have had our best results with the trophy rock. Have used everything from loose minerals and dicalcium phosphate to plain red trace mineral blocks. Deer cain was what I very first started with. They all work, but as I said have had best results with the trophy rock. Not sure what is in them that makes the difference, but there is definitely something. maddhunter
Re: favorite deer food? I've had the best luck with a protein tub from the local feed store. The first one I put out was 250#s, 20% protien. The deer will literally eat it and come back time and time again and then dig up the ground under it. They last about 2 years for me, I have about 10 -15 deer that I know of comeing to it. And the best thing of all is the price, $30 for 2 years of use and provideing much needed protien and minerals, you can't beat that with a stick
Switchback29A1
Re: favorite deer food? Yau'll are missing out with those mineral licks...I'm a big fan of back straps..lol. Ive noticed mineral licks at the bases of stumps have unreal results. The deer have dug out about 4 feet where we've put mineral licks and there's even a solid hoof print on the base of the stump. ODH
Re: favorite deer food? ya, I have had that Buckjam stuff out for about 3 months or so, and now there is a hole in the ground that is about 6 to 8 inches deep and about 2 feet in diameter! My friend has put some out too, and they are eating the stump!

LeafWiper
Re: favorite deer food? I know they cost alot of money, but spend the extra dollars on a trophy rock. You will not be disappointed. They are great for putting a trail cam over to see what bucks are in the area.
