tough one, if its possable tp set snares or traps may be the best,[if legal ]calling any animal when there is a large supply of food is tough, may eed to change to vocalization, check out varmit als site for the different sounds,a few invitaion howls may work, plus calling in thick timber is really tough, they usually will scent you before you see them, try calling in any opening if possable and settign a guy 50 yards or so downwind to try and get a peek at the yote before he smells you!just remember that they have prob smellled you from previos calling attemps and you should try a different sound or preferably vocalization,

with the salmon I am not sure, I personally think that if I was a coyote I would take the free meals I have been gettign instead of taking a chance at soemthign were they are not sure of! biggest thing about coyote huntign think like a coyote, sit there and look at the surrounding and think if I was coming in to this call what would the best way be to get there without being seen, heard , and smelling the area, chances are that is were they will be comign from!!good luck, hope this helped a bit!

BTW if night hunting is possable its when they are feeding,be the best time to get apoke at them!

Re: i need some help with yotes!!!

coyote season is year round from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. there is a season that we can hunt with lights at night but not yet!!!! he is losing animals faster than he can replenish his stock.. if we don't kill some soon he will lose everything and no more fresh eggs or chickens, and no more fresh rabbit for lunch!!!! i will print your post because i'm sure between the two of us we can implement some of your statements!! thanks for the reply!!

Re: i need some help with yotes!!!

Have you contacted the DNR or Wildlife Dept.? They should be able to help or atleast give sugestions on the best way to help the situation.

I think that if your livestock (cattle, chickens, rabbits, etc...) are being killed at a more than usual rate they will issue you permission or special permits to hunt them at night or other means not otherwise legal. Especially if you depend on them for income.

I'm sure they can help in some way.

Re: i need some help with yotes!!!

Wish I knew what to tell you, we have problems with them here too, and despite numerous attempts at calling them, I have really had no luck. I have watched videos and practiced calling them, and just cannot seem to get them to show in the open during daylight for long enough to get a shot if at all.

I am afraid they have had a pretty devastating impact on this years fawns here. I have gotten them to come out in the mornings some during deer season after putting out the deer carcass and guts as bait.

Re: i need some help with yotes!!!

I would think that if you catch them in the act of raiding your livestock then you would have the right to protect your property. can you hear them howl right after sunset? If you can then they probably have a den nearby. And if you can't figure anything else out, get a mean german shepherd or rottweiler or some other dog and keep it on the property. You would definitely know when the coyotes show up!

Re: i need some help with yotes!!!

This is very dangerous (and may not be legal in your area) so USE THIS INFO AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Take a large sponge and cut it into several approx. 2 inch cubes, then soak up a small amount of bacon grease with each. Don't get the sponges too wet! Leave them out where the yotes can find them. If a yote eats one, it'll swell inside his digestive track and cause almost certain death in a few days.

This will also kill a dog if it get's hold of it, SO BE CAREFUL!
