i have a chance to buy an 05 outback at a great price from a guy at work. it was his son's bow and it was hardly used. i already shot it and fell in love with it. im just wondering if outbacks have any problems? cause i know i have heard that switchbacks have string problems. any insight will be very helpful.

Re: outback

I bought an outback last winter and I love it, Its the best bow I have ever shot. its smooth and quiet.

I havent had any problems with mine, I just had the strings replaced on mine and it shoots better than before. (I tried to put in a peep myself, lol not a good choice)

I would highly recomend it to anyone.

a bit heavy though. i sold mine because of it.

I didnt think so, its lighter than what my bowtech weighed.

I definately don't consider the OB a heavy bow either. I actually like the way the added weight of the STS made my bow feel. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend the OB to you.

Re: outback

I hunted with one for two seasons and loved it. The only reason I sold it was because i upgrade every two years and giot a switchback XT. But the Outback treated me well killing 4 deer in two seasons with 3 being bucks. I honestly dont have any coplaints other than it was a little on the heavy side but that wasnt an issue. For $450 Id go for it. wink.gif

Re: outback

for $450 I would do it in a heartbeat........that is, if I had the extra change to drop. You can't go wrong with Mathews bows. I was always a Hoyt man, swore by them..........but when I took the XT challenge, I sold the Hoyt and came home with the Mathews. You won't go wrong with the Outback

Re: outback

For $450 with a rest included I'd jump all over it.

I absolutely love my Outback. Forgiving, accurate and there is absolutely no hand shock or vibration after the shot. My 414 grain arrow moves @ 275 fps and will blow through any animal I care to hunt. To boot, at 31 1/2" ATA it's a dream to take in the woods.

I have shot the Switchback and Switchback XT and to me the only real advantages either of the Switchies have over the Outback is a little bit of speed and the XT might be a HAIR smoother when drawing.

Re: outback

I bought an 04' Outback and had some limb problems. I was shooting it and started hearing a "clicking" noise. So I brought it down to my pro-shop. He took the string off and both limbs had cracks in the middle region.

Other than this problem I loved the bow, until the switchback came out.

Re: outback

I love my OutBack. I bought one last winter too and it shoots like a dream. I have actually heard that the OB is better than the SB. Less problems and proven performance. It's like the constant workhorse of the revolution bows. Consistent and steady.

Re: outback

I was shooting 3D yesterday. It was me with my Outback, there was a Switchback, a Switchback XT, a Hoyt Trykon XL, 2 BowTechs, and a Martin shooting in our group. After one of my shots, one of the BT shooters was standing behind me...he said " Wow, that is a quiet bow" It may not be a speed demon, but it is a quiet, consistent, and very forgiving bow.
