TurkeyHunter
I just bought a Thompson Center Omega 50 Cal and it came with a 5 pack sample of Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots. I havnt shot it yet and was going to buy another box to take and site it in. Has anyone used these bullets and its so how do you like them? Thanks! Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? Hornady bullet with an MMP sabot. It's a good combo. What gr did you buy? Some fast wist guns like the heavier bullet. I presume it was the black sabot that came along with it? If you have problems loading them use the MMP's 3 petal sabot. It's the HPH24 that is .002" smaller in loaded diameter. For a tight bore this is the piece to use with that bullet without sacrificing accuracy. Yet every gun is different and likes different ccombos. Good luck with these.
David_218
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? I've never tried T/c shockwaves, but have not heard anything bad against them. Personally I use their High Pressure Sabots with .452" Hornady 250 grain XTP bullets in my Black Diamond.
Hoyt03
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? I shoot the 250 grain shockwaves and they do fine for me. I also shoot and Omega 50 cal

archerjg
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? I took a deer with them two years ago and it left a good entrance and exit hole. It shoots very accurately out of my Black Diamond XR. I have gone to them for my muzzleloader. Archerjg

VTbowman
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? No they are crap so send them to me. LOL I use them and they work awesome for me. I spent almost 3 years looking for a sabot that my Remington 700ML would shoot better then 3" groups at 100 yards. They got me well under that and believe me I tried a bunch of different sabots. I currently use them in my 15" Encore 209x50 ML pistol and get 1" groups at 100 yards with it. Yes, I know-unbelievable, but true... LOL I use two 50g Purodex pellets BTW.... Guest MZ_shooter
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? The best bullet for a MZ I’ve shot is the Barns Expanders, but for what ever reason my Encore doesn’t like them. So last year I used the Shockwave and have to admit it’s a **** good bullet. Still prefer the Barns given the quick kills they produce, but the SW have put down everything I’ve shot them into in a reasonable amount of time. AJ
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? I use the 250 gr Shockwave or SST (interchangable) in my Savage smokeless ML. They will hold up at higher speeds (2500+ fps) better than the XTP does so they are better on deer sized game. They are decent bullets. I bought a bunch of them at Wallyworld after the prices dropped after the season. I am set for a decade or so.

too_pointer
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? What are the different grn. shockwave does everyone like. I am shooting an Encore also with 100 grn. pellets over a .295 PowerBelts. I think they shoot very accurate . I haven't had the change to try out the Shockwave, have heared very good reports about them . How do they load too_
VTbowman
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? I like the 250g and they load really smooth with only a spit patch/dry patch between shots. I never could get power belts to shoot well for me and did not like the way they loaded at all. TurkeyHunter
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? Thats funny I had issues with the power belts too. But again I bought a new Wolf Muzzleloader last year and it might of been it so I sent it back and got rid of the power belts too. For the life of me I couldnt get the 50 Cal Wolf to shoot stright! Tried differant grains, bullets ect.. Sent it back to Cabels and bought a new RealTree Thompson Center Omega 50 Cal. Was trying to go cheap and should of known better I just bought a new busnell 4X12X40 scope. and placed on the Thompson and I figured id give the 250G Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots a try first. Thanks for the great response everyone!
huntinguide
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? 250gr dead on out to 250 with 150 gr on pellets
Guest MZ_shooter
Re: Thompson Center Shockwave Sabots any good? I shot the 250 gr with 100 grs of 777 loose powder with the groups averaging 1” to 1.5” @ 100 yards. I was very disappointed that the Barns wouldn’t shoot out of my Encore, 4” groups were the best I could manage, but now that they have the Spit-Fire TMZ I’m hoping I can go back to Barns.
