dg
Has anyone out there got their kid one of those electric (or even gas powered) scooters? If gas, do they start okay with a pull rope? They seem to be everywhere for around $150 after rebate and I wonder if they last long (reliability). Do they "pass out" going up a slope? I'm just skeptic. Thanks in advance. bozz
Re: Electric Scooter ? Yeah we have had them all....didn't care for electric too much......short battery life.....not much speed...will not go up hills.......save your money and get the gas power.....there is a learning curve with 2-strokes motor's.....they can be hard to start at times.....you have a little mixing to do.....but once they start they run great.......they will not go up hills real good either because they have no low end torque......but plenty of high end torque........we had 2 electrics....pretty weak (unless you can get one of the new 500 watt motor) with only 100 watt motor's......we had 2 ....43 cc gas power and both were excellent......just cold starting....(takes about 10 pulls on half choke with a little trottle.. which can be taxing) .....also the electric start ones only work after the engine is warmed up.....drain's the battery too much when cold.......gas power's are good......just a little noisey and they do smoke a bit......they are basically weed eater's engines....but a lot of fun......if ya go electric try to get a 500 watt motor....we have a 4 stroke....4 speed 49 cc dirt bike now.....very quiet,.....easy kick start....and runs forever (100 miles on a single tank of gas).....good bike from pep-boys......they were on sale for only $ 350.....we could use another for off road with the trails in my back yard........sorry so long winded. dg
Re: Electric Scooter ? Thanks bozz! We got a 43cc two-stroke in the garage (hidden). I guess we'll keep it! I grew up on dirt bikes so the oil/gas thing is a piece of cake! Thanks!

Jeramie
Re: Electric Scooter ? Dad bought one of the electrical ones. It had the headlight, blinkers, horn, etc. Pretty cool. I hopped on it and ran around the yard and it booked pretty fast with me on it. I wouldn't expect a speed demon but it was entertaining. They had it for a while. They bought it for my nieces to ride. It eventually got stuck and they didn't let off the throttle. I think the back wheel wasn't spinning and it eventually burned the motor. Shame, that little critter was fun....
