building a home

I have been so busy this year I have had little time to post here in the forums, but I thought I would post a few pictures of the construction of our new home. With any luck we will have the trusses up in the next couple of days and then we make some faster progress.

We picked out the siding and roof colors today and the windows and doors should be in next week. The builder is making the cabinets and has already begun working on them. The wife and I designed the floor plan along with the garage and attaching breezeway. The builder will finish the top floor (turn key) and I will finish the daylight basement. I will post more pictures as we continue to move forward.

Re: building a home

A little more info on the construction, my wife picked out the wood for the kitchen cabinets and I beleive she went with a light ash. There will be a rustic oak breakfast nook and the dining room table and hutch will also be rustic oak. Most of the flooring will be a mixed hardwood with the master bedroom being the only carpet in the upstairs. In the daylight basement I will be doing most of the finish work and am planning on cork flooring (looks like hardwood but has some give) with built in bookcases and camo covered furniture. The construction is taking place about 2 miles south of Lake Koocanusa, a 90+ mile long lake that extends into Canada, and 8 miles west of Eureka. An added bonus can be seen in this Stealth Cam picture taken on a small clover plot just over 100 feet from the new home.
