ZooBear
I am thinking about buying a 54 cal. Hawkin from Cabelas. I noticed that one model is offered with a chrome lined barrel. What are the benifits of a lined barrel vs unlined? Is it worth the extra $75.00 ?
carbonhunter
Re: Chrome Lined Barrels im guessing its easier to clean, but to be honest i dont really know. I had several of my shotguns chromed and it cut down on the wad fouling considerably, i would guess that that means it will cut down on sabot fouling as well???? ZooBear
Re: Chrome Lined Barrels They were a 29 inch rifled barrel on a Hawken style hunter with a 1 in 48 twist. I would be mainly shooting GreatPlains bullets and a few round balls.
