Re: broad heads

are you looking for fixed or mechanical?

I use G5 Montecs and love them, for me they fly just like my fieldpoints, awesome 1 piece broadhead.

I have used Grim Reaper Mechanicals in the past, that is a great head as well plus if you wish you can change it to 100 grain to 125 grain by adding a spacer plus you can shoot it as fixed too. No orings or rubber bands either.

Lots of good choices out there and I am sure more on here will post some good suggestions.

Good luck in whatever you pick!

I have a similar problem. I shoot a hoyt vortec about 3 years old w/400 gr beman arrows. I have tried muzzy 100gr, thunderhead 85 gr, and jackhammer 100 gr mechanicals. I am trying to find a fixed blade that shoots like field points. Any suggestions?

Re: broad heads

shevy, sounds like your bow is out of tune. Those Muzzy and TH SHOULD have the same POI as field tips with a PROPERLY tuned bow. I suggest taking it in and getting her checked over.

With the heads on the market now, it is really hard to find a "bad" broadhead. You really need to match the head to the application. Are you wanting a Cut On Contact head, one with a chisel point? Good COC's are Magnus and SteelForce, also Montec, to name a few.

Try G5 Montec's or Slick Tricks, both fly like a field tip and slick trick is bold enough to offer a guarantee on their broadheads! Those are two of the most accurate heads I know of.

Re: broad heads

I am a plain ole muzzy man (100 grain 3 blade) however I admit there are many good heads out there. I am not a fan of expandables, but of the fixed blades on the market I like the new G5 striker (or Redheads Blackouts)they are the same thing, Rocket 75 steelheads, and finally Crossfires if you dont mide the $.

Re: broad heads

I've used 100grain Crimson Talon's for the last three years. They fly just like my field tips and rip an unreal hole in deer. They even shoot good out of a bow that's not tuned perfect.I used mechanicals for a year and didn't care for them much, but the last two years a lot of decent mechanicals have come out.

Re: broad heads

thanks for the advice. I did paper tune my bow and everything seemed to be ok. Maybe i didn't do something right. What are your thoughts about wisker biscuits?

Re: broad heads

Hey squirrley, I also am a Muzzy man, I shoot 3-blade 100 grain MUZZY"S. I have always like them and never really shot anything else, but check out the American Broadhead Company, they make very good products as well. It's all personal preference, but I just thought I would put in my two cents! GOOD LUCK
