IllinoisArcher
Mayfield was offered a spot on Waltrips team so that opens an evernham car for sadler http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/headlines/cup/07/14/jmayfield.mwaltrip.esadler.changes/index.html
Bowhntr
Re: Sadler to Evernham I would be surprised if Sadler left Yates for Evernham. True, Yates is in a slump but they are more established than Evernham plus Yates doesn't deal with those aero picky dodges
spyderpancake
Re: Sadler to Evernham I hope he doesn't do it. that team is getting all the leftovers at Evernham. I have always thought that Sadler would be an awesome fit at DEI, and if they expand to 4 cars next year maybe he could go with them.Nothing against Menard, but i would rather see him in the 15 car. snapper
Re: Sadler to Evernham DJ is leaving Yates...but its already been said that Sadler wasn't leaving...thought he even signed a contract extension?
BowJoe
Re: Sadler to Evernham Sadler just said today that he doesn't know where he's going to be next year. I think he needs to go to DEI next year too. Get a better established team. I like Truex but he is learning. Sadler's established.
Chrud
Re: Sadler to Evernham [ QUOTE ] Sadler's established. [/ QUOTE ] What has Sadler established? Truex came in the Crap Series with the same resume Junior had...2 Busch Championships. That whole team was with Truex for those two Championships. He's only been in 25 or so Crap Series races, you can't expect over night success. Sadler has what, three Cup wins in 7 or 8 years? None of those wins were really that impressive. He wouldn't have won Texas if Gordon wouldn't have dropped back. He was good at Fontana, but another two laps or so and Kahne would have been around him. He had one semi-consistent year. BowJoe
Re: Sadler to Evernham I mean that the learning point is passed for Saddler. He knows most of the tracks pretty well. He has done good for the crappy equipment he has from RYR. I think he would have been good for DEI with M&M's or maybe a different sponsor like wrangler full time but that's all over now. He's with Evernham. I just wonder who Mayfield is going to. I think it's going to be MWR.
spyderpancake
Re: Sadler to Evernham Yeah, Mayfield will be in a Waltrip Toyota, b/c after UPS followed Jarrett he had spondorship for another car. It is gonna be wild next year, so many new teams and cars, there are gonna be some good cars missing races! So I was wondering, are there gonna be any Toyota Busch teams? BowJoe
Re: Sadler to Evernham I don't think Toyota can make it in Cup without the Busch program. Testing is key and like it or not Busch is a very important factor in success of a lot of cup teams.
VABuckSlayer
Re: Sadler to Evernham [ QUOTE ] I would be surprised if Sadler left Yates for Evernham. [/ QUOTE ] Guess your going to be surprised Daren. Robert Yates announced today that Sadler is going to drive the 19 Dodge next season. He's going to finish the season in the 38. I hate to see him leave a Ford but he should do well with Ray. Eric
snapper
Re: Sadler to Evernham My mistake...I thought he was staying at RYR...thought it was a done deal awhile ago!
spyderpancake
Re: Sadler to Evernham [ QUOTE ] Sadler said he has not made a decision about his future. "There's a lot of speculation ... but as of right now I don't have a job for next year," he insisted. "There are some teams you guys (the media) have no idea who I am talking to. "Right now is a great time to be a driver. I've had some surprising phone calls this week. I don't think we realize what teams are looking and who's not, and there's more people stirring the pot underneath than you might think. "I am now sort of rethinking my process and looking at what I need to do to get into a good race car. I am not in any hurry and I don't have any kind of timeline." [/ QUOTE ] Well, maybe it isn't a done deal that he will go to Everham. Jeremy hasn't even been released yet. Maybe, just maybe DEI or RCR can nab him, as they are both wanting to expand next year. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Sadler to Evernham Lots of crazy deals will be going on now and in the off season, just when you think you know who is in what car it all changes!!
snapper
Re: Sadler to Evernham Here it is.... LONG POND, Pa. (AP) -- Robert Yates Racing has officially hit rock bottom. Both Dale Jarrett and Elliott Sadler have jumped ship, choosing to flee RYR for new rides in 2007. Sponsor UPS is also leaving with Jarrett, creating a chaotic time for a once-proud organization. Despite the turnover, no one was panicking Friday. Instead, there seemed to be an overwhelming sense of relief following Sadler's long-awaited decision. "We finally have a clear-cut direction for the organization now that we know Elliott is leaving," said Tommy Baldwin, Sadler's crew chief. "We just wanted a direction. This has been going on since January, and it's been a real thorn in our sides. "We just wanted it to end, one way or the other, so we all knew what the deal was going to be from here on out." Sadler had been mulling his future with RYR for several months, and finally asked for and received his release on Thursday. Although he's expected to replace Jeremy Mayfield at Evernham Motorsports - with Mayfield likely going to one of Michael Waltrip's Toyota's - Sadler insisted Friday he does not have another job lined up. Instead, he cited a difference in philosophy between himself and Yates as his reason for leaving. "I just have a difference of opinion on which way the sport is going than those guys did," Sadler said. "I couldn't really make myself buy into the system in which way I think the company is going, so we just decided to split and do something different." Now there is talk of Ward Burton getting in a Yates car?
spyderpancake
Re: Sadler to Evernham NASCAR.com is saying that RYR is looking at David Gilliland now, for full-time cup next year. Richard Childress has offered him a Busch deal, personally i think he would do better getting more experience in Busch, but what do i know?
BowJoe
Re: Sadler to Evernham I think the jump to Cup is crazy for Gilliland. He's only won one race in his career in Busch. Look at the comparison of RCR and RYR. Not even close. He needs to stick it out in Busch until he gets past the learning curve and then slowly progress into Cup racing. Too many rookies in both Busch and Cup in consecutive years. Everybody's looking for the next Carl Edwards and Kasey Kahne but they need to build experience so they don't get burned out too fast going from a big fish in a little pond to a little fish in a big pond.
