Turkeygirl
So I'm thinking about getting a new release this year. Actually I was thinking about it last year to but didn't get one but if I have some extra money, being the poor college student I am, I'd like to get a new release before the season starts. The release I have right now is the Trophy Hunter but I don't like how the bearings wear into my Ultra-Nok XL. It hasn't worn into it really yet but it did a good job on Andy's. I was looking in the huge Cabela's Limited Fall Edition Cataloge and while the prices are a bit steep, there are a few releases I was looking at: TruFire Bulldog Buckle Web, TruFire Hurricane Buckle Web, Fletcher Primos .44 Caliper. Anyone know anything about these? I have an Ultra-Nok XL on my bow string so do any of you have any release recommendations? Also is there any performance difference between the releases that have the webbing attachment between the head and wrist strap or the hard rubber attachment? Also anyone know of a good release at a reasonable price? thanks!

Leo
Re: Good Release??? In general metal loops like the Ultra Nok are as hard on releases as releases are hard on them. So often you end up wearing out a release in a short time that could have lasted years. If you shell out alot of dough for a good release. IMO protect your investment by going to a string loop. Carter and Fletcher both make excellent, very durable releases.
Turkeygirl
Re: Good Release??? I saw the Trufire Hurricane Extreme on Basspro...looks like something I may want. Yeah, I just got the Ultra-Nok XL Last year so it is still pretty new, should last awhile.
maddhunter
Re: Good Release??? I have used a Winn Free Flight release for the last 10 years and haven't had any problems. I used it on an ultra noc for about 7 of that, it works really well with the metal loops. They are around $50 but are well worth it.

whttlbucksteve
Re: Good Release??? I have shot the short and sweet for a couple years and it actually improved my accuracy.I also have a string loop that also helped.
Guest finnlander
Re: Good Release??? I agree with Maddhunter. I also have the Winn Free Flight. I have never heard of one letting you down in the field. After years of use mine is just like the day I bought it but even better. Its a full grip (?) release and as it breaks in to your hand the more you use it. I have several friends that referred me to them and they are still on there first one as well. You may pay a few more dollars for it up front but with the way these things last its a great investment. I think I paid $50.00 or so. BowJoe
Re: Good Release??? I simply bought the Cobra 360 release. Not one single problem. Basic and available at your local walmart.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Good Release??? I am currently using a Tru Fire Stalker Custom, I like it because it fits in my hand good and I seem to have better pulling power than a wrist type. I would say visit a pro shop and see what they have and you can shoot with. Go with one that feels comfortable in your hand.
ksdeerhunter03
Re: Good Release??? I shoot for TRU Ball and for hunting shoot eh copperhead, its a great release. Use a string loop and you will probably shoot a little better group too!

wtnhunt
Re: Good Release??? Have been shooting a tru fire x-caliper release for a good while. They are pretty cheap in comparison to some releases out there, but work really well for me.
LifeNRA
Re: Good Release??? I have the Tru-Fire Hurricane with powerstrap. I like the way it releases. The Cabela's version was WAYYYYYYYY to sensitive! I barely touch the trigger and off it went!
Bownarow
Re: Good Release??? Tru Fire Judge is an awsome release. I picked one up last year on sale at BassPro for 50 bucks. It's camo and has a buckle, plus the head rotates 360 degrees.
husker
Re: Good Release??? i took a truball stinger and took the screw out that held the head to the strap and replaced it with a nylon loopwith a collar on it so it can be adjusted as close or as far away from your finger as possible
