Their are several No Till products on the market right now & all of them contain some sort of brassica blend. The WhiteTail Institue has "no plow". I've tried that seed at 2 locations in 2 different counties with the same results. The deer didn't touch any of it, even during the winter. I feel like the brassica plant they use isn't well suited for the carolinas at least its not good to hunt over. Its also 30$ to plant .5 acre.

I'd use "throw & grow" or "no till" from EH. The makers of "Shot Plot". I've never heard anyone say their brassica wasn't platable.

Throw & Grow Brassica

Hope this helps.

Re: best no till seed?

Ive had my best results with whitetail institutes no-plow. Ive also had decent results with biologics "hot spot". I tried the "throw and grow" last year, but it never really took well. But i cant past judgement on it b/c nothing really took off last year in my area due to lack of rain.

The lanes are pretty narrow, and sunlight might be a problem for most seeds. Still worth a try. I use dutch white clover on my woodland trails; not the greatest food plot but it germinates easily and seems to tolerate some shade.

Re: best no till seed?

I believe too many people expect too much from No-Till blends. They are by no means a substitute for proper soil preparation. No matter what you plant, the PH has to be within spec. and fertilization has to be correct. The more time you spend prepping the soil, the better the results will be. blush.gif
