Guest outdoor_adventurer
i just went out and bought a nikon pro staff laser 440 rangefinder and i haven't got the opportunity to use it in the field yet, or test it out on the range... i need some opinions telling me if i made a good buy or a bad buy and i would like to know what kind of rangefinder you may own and/or use. and if you like it?.. thanks
Tominator
Re: rangefinders?? I got a Nikon 400 a few years ago, and I noticed last year it stopped measuring anything past about 45 yards, so I sent it back to Nikon. They wanted $176 to repair it, even though a new one only cost $199. I was pretty upset, and still am to a degree. I think they should have stood behind their product better than they did. I did nothing wrong with that rangefinder. Burn me once...... I'll never buy another Nikon rangefinder, and I take every opportunity to recommend a Bushnell rangefinder now. Guest outdoor_adventurer
Re: rangefinders?? i think you can get them at wal-mart. i bought mine off of basspro.com for 199.99. but yea that is probably the model at wal-mart. i can't honestly say if i really like it yet or not. i have decided that i'm gonna take it to the range and decide if i like it there first before i go trusting it in the woods.lol... toddyboman
Re: rangefinders?? i have a bushnell. I have had no problems with it. Its an older model so bigger than the current ones. But still works great. One thing to remember is that depending on how big and or reflective the object is determines of successful you will be on getting a reading. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: rangefinders?? All my optics are Bushnell, they do me well and don't cost an arm and a leg to buy!
wtnhunt
Re: rangefinders?? Got a bushnell compact 800 here, and am pretty happy with it. Have had it for a little over a year.
Guest outdoor_adventurer
Re: rangefinders?? i'll have to try out my new nikon and see if i like it or not. i will also have to see how dependable it will be before using it in the field to range a deer. i don't want a monster to come out and get a false reading and shoot over its back. if the nikon doesn't do the trick i will have to upgrade to a bushnell. Hoyt03
Re: rangefinders?? I have the basic bushnel yardage pro sport and love it. Its not going to range stuff thats way out there but will do great on deer out to about 200 never tried further yet. It also works well for short distances while bow hunting, even stuff under 10 yds. my opinion and alot of other guys i know, you cant go wrong with this range finder for 150$ or sometimes less if you find a deal. Get yourself a sport, or slightly better model if you want farther distances, wont be disappointed with bushnell.

Never had a single issue with it, and the price was sweet for being waterproof as well. You made a great choice. Remember, since they are somewhat delicate electronic devices, you can't be dropping them and not expect something to break.

hunterfisherman
Re: rangefinders?? I have a bushnell and love it. That thing works anytime anywhere. My hunting buddy has a Nikon and does ok with it. He's not had any problems with it at all. I, myself, am a Bushnell guy.
