Newarcher
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... Rut-roh, Michael's comin .....I stirred up a hornets nest this time! Actually, I am glad he is coming as I want to make it perfectly clear that I am not bashing him personally because he didn't do anything I haven't. Glass houses and all that. My surpise, I guess you could call it that, was--given the G rated nature of the show in the past--these items made it in the show. Given the nature of the show in the past, they kind of leapt out there at me. I will cop to being overly sensitive about the cigar thing. However, watching my 60 year old mom slowly die of emphysema tends to make me aggrivated. And yes, I rode her about smoking when she was smoking too. So hopefully Michael doesn't take any great offense to any of this, it wasn't meant that way atall! While he is here, maybe we could get him to explain just exactly what in the world is wrong with Nick Mundt! New
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... I guess we all see things differently, did anyone catch Sunday's Realtree show? Bill Jordan sporting just a towel, a hat, and some flip flops, I was offended, this was a family show I thought, the whole family, friends and the outdoors slogan they pitch.... man, what kind of family show shows a man walking around in a towel, flip flops, and a hat!!!! I'll tell you what kind of show, a GREAT one, It was great to see some humor in there and Bill working the cameras flexing that body of his. Sure it was all about his shower running out of water and that bit didn't have to be in the show but it added humor and that is why I watch Realtree and always will. Some probably were offended not sure why but you always get someone that takes offense in something that was meant as HUMOR, some people are just wrapped too uptight and need to relax. Why do guys pass out cigars when they have a baby? It's just humor and having fun, the intent of Realtree shows is not to misguide todays's youth, its up to us to tell our children why something is going on. I am sure Michael will address this issue. As for Bill and his towel, that was funny!! Almost as funny as Foxworthy taking a bath in that stream in a past episode!!

wtnhunt
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... [ QUOTE ] Ah well, I guess I just see things a little differently. For those who doubt the power of celebrities to persuade, why do you think Hoyt pays Michael to advertise for them. Regardless, I gotta get to gettin. Nothing to write the President about, I was just surprised by seeing and hearing it is all. New [/ QUOTE ] Buddy I will say this, I am not near as worried about what my kids see on TV as what I am about what they see and hear that I never know about and about the peer pressures that I KNOW they will encounter. At least like Lou says, you can counter what you see on tv. Too many parents out there do not parent and wonder where things went wrong and then want to go and lay off the blame on anything they can. A huge part of what is wrong with this country today.

GWSmith
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... What I find the most interesting about that verse...is what it does not say about the time inbetween "Child" and "Old". To me it does not mean that our children wont make bad choices...but that when they have experienced the results of those choices they will return to what they were taught as children...with the backing of experience ...In other words: The older I get...the smarter my Dad was!!! I was actually talking about the parents that really and truly do not care. The parents that let their daughter have overnight boyfriend guests or those that throw parties for thier high-school children and supply the beer. Those parents....the ones who have surrendered! So old may not have been what we consider old... Btw, our pastor often says, "When I was around 14 my dad was the dumbest guy I knew. He sure learned a lot by the time I turned 30." ....paraphrase......

AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... Its shows like that New that bring the humor to hunting show that tries to show more than just a kill, its showing what most of our camps are like. So the deal with Michael, was just good fun being had by all. I hope you can see that too. I remember Bill Cosby on TV on some specials and he was smoking a stogie, I think he is one of the greatest performers who truly cares for our children. So have faith in Michael and don't stop watching his show, you'll regret it and miss out on his adventures and the laughs you'll have! Newarcher
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... Lou, Yeah, I was a little over the top about the cigar...that was more a personal issue and personal beef than something that is contributing to the complete and total moral decay of society. So my apologies to Michael et all about that. My original post wasn't meant to be over the top but then a couple posters sort of took a shot or two and then I got revved up. Then, as with many posts here, it spiraled out of control into hookers, parenting skills, and ultimately Bill Jordan in a towel. This would be a good lesson for my son about unintended consequences! Better stop busting Bill or I WILL get banned! Oh well, truly no offence meant Michael....when you do post. New
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... Maybe Bill was sporting that towel for a reason, I can see it now in a future marketing item, "Team Realtree" embrodiered towels!! Then if the towels go over well, there will be camo flip flips!!! That guy is always thinking! Never underestimate your posts New on here, you had a concern, nothing wrong with that, your a parent and want to establish the rights and wrongs, I am sure Michael will make you feel better when he posts! Newarcher
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... Hey Lou, You know how when we go out in the sun and get farmer's tans? I betcha that the areas on Bill's body that never see the sun are actually some form of camo! Well, I am not so concerned about Michael making me feel better rather me not offending him. It never really was about Michael (nor his habits) as much as the editing of the show and what makes the final cut. Michael is still the best host going. I suppose that if I had a camera following me around while I hunt, it would be pretty ugly! New

Though Michael is a famed hunter and a great figure for the outdoors, I doubt any of that will influence him enough to think youre not entitled to your opinion. I have no doubt he will respect that as much as you obviously respect his.... Infact as much as he's in the spotlight im sure he suffers much worse then a dad being diligent at being a dad. konfuzed
Re: Mr. Waddell, I gotta say.... I didn't see the show in question, but I would rather my son see Michael, or any hunter sit around a campfire with a cigar and let a cuss word slip (if he did) than alot of things that are shown on regular tv every day. Just my opinion.
