Hoyt03
What kind of rings and bases do you need to mount a scope on the omega. Is most of this stuff universal or depend from scope to scope. I have a nikon 3x9 prostaff I'm like to mount but dont have any of the hardware to do so. Also how much does this stuff cost? I saw some that looked fairly pricey. Appreciate any info on this and pictures do wonders, I know some of you guys have pics of your mloader lol. thanks
bigmoss
Re: Mounting scope to Omega Most of the mounts are universal to the OMEGA AND ENCORE. I bought a set of the real TC stuff for about $99 for the RT Base and rings but you can get stuff at Basspro and Cabelas for about $60. To bad I had 2 brand new sets for sale here cheap but they are sold now.
Guest toothpick
Re: Mounting scope to Omega The best one I have seen is from a company called Durasight. The base is 1 piece not 2 and is made of some metal that they claim is stronger than aluminum (feel like steel to me but they call it Z2 alloy). I got it my local dealer for an encore but fits the same as omega. I think bass pro has it too but under their name. Spent about 30 bucks for the base and rings with quick detach. VTbowman
Re: Mounting scope to Omega I put a $9 weaver style base and some $12 Leupold vertical split rings on my Encore 209x50 ML and a 300 Win Mag, both 15" handgun bbls. Had to buy the bases at Dicks Sporting Goods and the rings at Walmarts. I recently bought another set of Burris Dual Dove tail base and rings for around $28 used for a 454 Casull. Another Luepold Dual dovetail setset for around $45 new from Midway for a .223. You can spend a lot or a little and basically get the same thing. I dont feel you need to spend big bucks on rings and base unless you have a really hard recoil thumper. JMO
too_pointer
Re: Mounting scope to Omega I have removable rings and bases on my 2 Encore barrels. Cabela's sells them, and they are right about the mounts fitting encore and omagas. I like the Leupold mounts myself. They are a 1 piece base. too_
257bob
Re: Mounting scope to Omega I don't like to use aluminum bases (Weaver brand) on muzzleloaders. There may be no problem most of the time, but I am more confident in steel components. Warne makes a very solid steel Weaver style base and I like Burris Zee Rings. That is the combination that I have on my Omega. There are a lot of ring options, but Warne is the only steel base that I know of.
too_pointer
Re: Mounting scope to Omega I have a set of Warne right now, detachable. It fits the Encore and Omega, 1 piece base. I bought it for my next barrel, but I can be talked out of it LOL. too_
Hoyt03
Re: Mounting scope to Omega What size rings for a 3x9x40 scope? Will the medium size rings be fine with this scope on the Omega or do you need high rings? Thanks.
Guest Nic_58
Re: Mounting scope to Omega [ QUOTE ] What size rings for a 3x9x40 scope? [/ QUOTE ] Medium rings will work just fine for a 40mm scope. I have medium Leupold QR's on my Omega with a 40mm scope and it clears the barrel just fine. BUT, I did have to remove the rear fiber optic sight for scope clearance.
