jbeck
Friday night I headed to some new water, I looked around for a while, and started drifting and fishing some tube jigs. Man, I came through some good water and just lit them up. I kept motoring back up and drifting again and the kept going. I caught 25 in 1 1/2 hours, I think I could have caught more if I wouldn't have had to motor back up the river. LOL This is the biggest of the night, 18 1/4 " don't know the weight. vagobbln
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) Nice. I'd guess that one is between 4 and 5, don't you think? Nothing like a smallmouth IMO. I just bought a fishing kayak and my brother and I are going after them here in VA on Friday. I can't wait!

Hoyt03
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) Very nice smallie there jbeck. You get him near the house? I'd say that fish will go slightly over 3lbs. My biggest so far this year was 19 and 3/4 caught in feb. I'll post a pic of it when I get home. By the way when can I come catch some haha. I also want to get after some catties. LifeNRA
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) Hoyt and jbeck, are you two fishing the Susky? I think I know where hoyt is. Close to Dauphin. Cause that looks like 22/322 in the background. I think I might be due for a wet wading trip up above the Clarks Ferry bridge! But the river stage has to be at 3.5 or lower! Then the smallies gather in the deeper pools I know of! TONS! BTW, jbeck, you said you were using tube jigs, melonpepper?
Hoyt03
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) I believe Jbeck was hitting them on the Juni, I was hitting them on the Susq. Any kind of tube will work well this time of year. My fav right now is pumpkin pepper, its a brownish color
LifeNRA
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) I still have a few hundred of the Bass n man gizits here, well about four hundred of the mellonpepper and three hundred of the brown pepper you discribed. Once the topwater bite has stopped, thats what I throw the rest of the morning. We should make a plan one day this summer and hit the water up above the Clarks Ferry bridge! Pending on water levels! Like I said before, 3.5 and lower is best up there for wet wading. What do you think? Maybe thebigone can come down, you and jbeck as well! Heck anybody! jbeck
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) I was catching them on Cotton Candy color in the juniata, I'm up for the fishing trip to the susqui. Heck, the water level's aren't a problem, charlie bring your boat and I'll bring mine. PM me if you guys want to go.

LifeNRA
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) I have a TX-17 Bass Tracker with a 40 horse on the back. But it will never see that part of the river! But hey! I would still be up for it even without a boat! I dont mind getting wet! LOL!
Hoyt03
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) Heck I'd be up for that. I usually give wading a chance once a year and after hurting so bad afterwards I say not for another year. This time of year my boat wont see that stretch either, but we could always fish farther down, or do a little boating wading out of jbecks. Let me know I'd be up for it. PS the best time to get the big ones is the weeks after bow season and before rifle
LifeNRA
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) [ QUOTE ] PS the best time to get the big ones is the weeks after bow season and before rifle [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I know! I usually would fish around that time, but not now since I bought a bow! Hey I am up for either! But I dont want to make it sound like I am trying to get a free boat ride either!!! Hoyt03
Re: Smallies where hitting (Pic) I think I can squeeze in some bear driving along with some fishing, thats it I can walk or even stand after driving out that mountain side, lol NRA any RT forum member is welcome on my boat anytime. Hopefully we can get this smallie fishing lined up.
