okbowman
I think I'm trying to be a little selfish here, but what do you think? Would the Encore be a good youth rifle? With its short stock and the fact I can change barrels, would it be a good gun for me to buy to let my son use and for me to use too? Feedback would be appreciated! konfuzed
Re: T/C Encore I bought my son a Remington Model 7 youth chambered in the .260 Remington. Last year we were checking our scopes before the season and I talked him into shooting my Encore with the .308 barrel on it. (He is 9 years old) He LOVED it!!!!!! I shot the .308 and then his .260 and the .308 kicked LESS !!!! I bought him a youth stock and he was good to go!!! Definately a good choice if you ask me. Guest wmramse
Re: T/C Encore Hiya Vance! I think the encore is a great choice for a youth rifle. You can get him a barrel in a mild caliber now, and he can upgrade it later if he wants to a bigger caliber for deer, moose, whatever. If this is his first gun, that's another good reason to put him on a single-shot. That's how most of us learned to shoot - I learned on my papaw's old .410ga single shot. It helps them concentrate and make the 1st shot count - no spray and pray with a SS! On top of that, I've heard nothing but good things about the encore, so if you do go with the TC I doubt you'll ever be disappointed in the quality, accuracy, or fit and finish. wtnhunt
Re: T/C Encore Dont see why not, seems like that would be a good choice. Went with a browning micro hunter in a .243 for my oldest daughter, she turned 10 back in March, the gun fits her well and she shoots it well. VTbowman
Re: T/C Encore Yes by all means the Encore is the perfet platform for a youth hunter. That and you can swap, trade or buy used bbls and upgrade as the youth gorws up. Plus like you stated, you too can set yourself up with your own bbl and make it really worth your money. I had recently gotten into the Encore handgun bbls and now have 4 of them. 1 frame. Its sweet being able to change them to your needs. tedicast
Re: T/C Encore Another plus of the Encore, is there is a factory bantam stock that has a shorter length of pull, for smaller shooters. The stock is a piece of cake to change, and could easily be changed back to the normal stock when you wanted to use it, or he grows older.
