Guest fishermanwhohunts
When I practiced today, I tried shooting as if I was shooting to the far left and far right in a treestand. When I tried shooting to the right I was having a tough time. I had no trouble shooting to the far left. I know I could go to a farther degree in an actual treestand, but I would like to know what to in a situation I would have to shoot in that direction
kooter
Re: Can\'t shoot turned to the far right. I guess you were trying to shoot without moving your feet?? I would just move very slowly and get your feet pointed in the right direction. I had a deer a few years back that had me going from the right side back to the left side before I got a shot. Take your time and move slow.

Leo
Re: Can\'t shoot turned to the far right. If you're sitting and right handed. Shooting to the right can't be done. Standing is the only way to shoot to the right.

Guest tyshe17
Re: Can\'t shoot turned to the far right. This is the reason why I sit while I am on stand. I know a lot of people that think you need to stand the whole time while bow hunting...I dont. Dave Worthington talks about this, and his reason is a good one. he makes the point that if you and sitting you can set your feet on the stand for the shot you have with out turning, then stand and shoot, or remain seated and shoot. This made more and more sense to me the more I thought about it. with this approach there will never be a "too far right" unless the tree gets in your way. BowJoe
Re: Can\'t shoot turned to the far right. I would use the T step pattern. Place your right foot at a T to the back of your left foot and then rotate your left foot to where you are almost turned 90 degrees.
Tony
Re: Can\'t shoot turned to the far right. i stand about 90% of the time. i dont like the idea of sitting and then having to make the movement of standing up to get my shot off. either shoot while sitting or stand before the deer gets there. its easier to slightly move your feet while standing up, then to move your feet into postion and then stand up. theres a lot more movement there. getting your feet into postion for the shot, just takes practice and experience. but its good your working on it now. that way you can be ready before the season starts. Sitting it would be about impossible to shoot across your body to the right if you are shooting right handed.
Guest fishermanwhohunts
Re: Can\'t shoot turned to the far right. So if I'm not using a scent drag, I should approach from the right so any minute amount of scent I leave behind drives them to the left?
