Strut10
This spring, while I was laid up, my dad & brother put in 4 acres of clover and covered with oats. None of the oats came up for a cover crop. So the ragweed & foxtail went berzerk and took over. Thought all was lost. Went and mowed the weeds off the other night.........just so they wouldn't seed...........and to my surprise.........a cover crop of foxtail & ragweed (it was nearly hood-high on a 50 hp tractor!!!) was hiding a heck of a bunch of clover!!! Hopefully, now, I can frost-seed in any empty spots in the spring and hit the whole thing with an herbicide this time next year and have a dandy clover field. Guest anderson3
Re: \"Failed\" plot doing O.K. strut, that happens a lot. You may need to mow it one more time next month or so. By Sept-Oct, those annual weeds will quit and the clovers will have a nice window of time to fill in.
Guest anderson3
Re: \"Failed\" plot doing O.K. Also, you can broadcast some clover seed the next month or two. If you get some good rains it may germinate and give you a head start filling in the bare spots.
