elkoholic
After reading the post on the proper way to dress out a deer I got to wondering how many hunters use surgical gloves (or something similar) when dressing/cleaning game. After more than forty years of hunting I still do not use gloves. How about you?
Nick
Re: gloves? I do, just because I usually have all my hunting clothes and equipment with me and once Im done dressing the animal, I dont want to handle that stuff and get that all bloody too. I usually carry some wet wipes with me as well.

buckee
Re: gloves? I never have either. Get down, get dirty ... then go find a puddle to wash up a bit.
Tominator
Re: gloves? [ QUOTE ] I never have either. Get down, get dirty ... then go find a puddle to wash up a bit. [/ QUOTE ] Ditto. Never have, and I employ puddles, wet leaves, grass, etc, whatever I can find. Heck, dirt even works.

VTbowman
Re: gloves? I sure do and have some wet wipes in the truck as well fro my forearms and whatever else I get blood on. Like Nick had said, I dont want deer blood at guts on every thing I touch between the field dress job and home. Unless I am feild dressing it at home when I have the hose around... ruttinbuc
Re: gloves? I use them if I have them with me. Well, if I remember if I have them with me. They do come in handy to keep the blood off of everything.
archerjg
Re: gloves? I use gloves just to be on the safe side. I usually have some kind of cut on my hands or a finger that is split open so I wear gloves to keep everything out. Archerjg
wtnhunt
Re: gloves? I have used gloves a few times, but dont like using them. Being that my hunting is all done right here behind the house, I always bring the deer back to the house to dress them out, so I have access to running water. WIwhitetailhunter
Re: gloves? Never done it without gloves. Cleanup is much much easier...just pull them off and your hands are clean! (most of the time anyways)

Guest huntwriter
Re: gloves? I never wear gloves to clean deer, unless I have a cut or otherwise broken skin on my hands. In such a case I do wear normal household rubber gloves to prevent an infection of some sort.

Rhino
Re: gloves? I tried once about 10 years ago. It was so warm and my hands sweated so bad I couldn't get a decent grip. I ripped those suckers off and never tried using them again.
257bob
Re: gloves? I use them. I used to use latex but they tear easily and then you might as well not have any on. I found that rubber dish washing gloves work the best. The only problem is most come in pastel colors. They wash up and last for several seasons. OJR
Re: gloves? I have never used them! Just use some snow, grass or leaves to clean up with! When I get it to my truck, I have some handi-wipes and paper towels there and can clean up real good!

RangerClay
Re: gloves? NEVER! Gloves are for sissies I hate them things!! Every stinkin' year I find a pair or two left in the woods and I have to carry them out. Would it kill ya to stick a couple pieces of paper towel in your pack? A little snow or a puddle will do the trick then dry with a piece of paper towel. Ranger
