I NEED A NEW SIGHT!!! HELP!!! Pics, GRRRRRR!

I was out shooting today, and my Micro Matrix Guide Series Trophy Ridge BROKE!!! The front part that holds the pins just fell off! I babied this thing like crazy, never dropped, hit, or mis-handled in any way! The bow always stayed in the padded case as well! After being in a little shock, I inspected it a little closer. It seems the piece that broke is VERY thin to begin with! On top of that, its threaded down the middle. The walls of this piece are 3/32" or smaller! Not enough to even withstand a soft blow to it for aluminum! The one side was all black, and the other side has a fresh metal, which tell me it was already broken for sometime. Maybe even from when I first bought it!

Here the piece that holds the pin housing.

This is the piece that attaches to the bow.

There might be a good ending here, I think! I bought it at Cabela's almost a year ago! They took it back and offered me a gift card for the replacement amount. But, now I am second guessing about buying another. If this one broke so easy, who is going to say the second won't? After seeing the inside piece and how thin it was made! I just don't know! I really like the vertical pins. But I just cant justify the price for a cheaply made sight!

What do you all recommend??? confused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gif

John, take a look at the Viper Archery Products line of sights. They are super bright, and extremely well built. Definetely won't fail like the TR did. I have had mine for over a year, without any problem Also, any sight by Spott Hogg is practically bullet proof. Neither are the cheapest sights on the market, but well worth the money.

Weird.

Is it guaranteed at all?

I have a Montana Black Gold too, and I know they guarantee the pins forever; don't know about the housing.

Turns out they (meaning TR) knew about the design flaw, and were making things right with the people who owned one! Which at the time I was un-aware of. They made a different design, and made it much stronger! But Cabela's gave me my money back already.

If I dont buy another TR I been looking at the new Montana Black Gold Dusk Devil. Man are them pins BRIGHT. But the cool thing is they have a photo sensitive cover that gets darker as the sun hits it, kind of like your changing eye glasses. But I really like the vertical pins much better! So, I will see what happens this Sunday when I meet up with Dan and a few others from another forum.

Take a look at the Vital Bow Gear angular sights. The pins seem like they are hanging in space and are as bright as anything out there. It comes with a lifetime guarantee also.

Ditto. Best sight on the market IMO.

Re: I NEED A NEW SIGHT!!! HELP!!! Pics, GRRRRRR!

Have you contacted the company? You have some pictures they might want to see and maybe you found a manufacturing issue. I would contact them too as most if not all archery companies want to hear about field issues.

Better now then once you hit the stand in October and it ruins your hunt!

I have a Fuse Buckhorn 300 with the coil and love it. Basically its a Cobra Sidewinder but Fuse makes the customized deer head bracket for it.

Its bright and I like it a lot!!

Yes and yes! They know about it already, Dan, told me this was happening, and TR is relpacing the brackets at no cost! But I got my money back. I want to see what the new brackets look like before I buy another!

But it looks like CJ sights are popular! I found one by a company called Sword Sights too.

I heard good things John about Sword sights, pricey but nice! Good luck shopping and finding a new one, and remember, lots of good ones over at archerytalk.com.

Their loss, your gain could be had if you find the right seller and what you want.

They had a new G5 Optix for less than a hundred, guy was looking at offers so who knows how low it went!

Email from Trophy Ridge!

Greetings John,

From reading your email it sounds like Cabela’s has taken care of your sight already, but if not please do give me a call. We have a limited lifetime warranty for all our products and I would be happy to replace your sight bracket system with a new upgrade. We have redesigned the bracket system for this sight and the one we have now attaches a bit differently and is thicker in the joining areas. Our sights are shown with the new current bracket designs on the web site www.trophyridge.com
