Re: price on mounts help????

most good taxidermists charge over 200. Starting out taxidermists may charge less. I pay 225. I know of taxidermist charges almost 400 hundred. You should be able to find a good one in the 200- 300 dollar range.

Re: price on mounts help????

My taxidermist charges $480 for a deer shoulder mount. Old World Taxidermy, he does a wonderful job and has a jaw dropping trophy room that you will never see anywhere. In fact he is now negotiating with Cabelas to use alot of his mounts in the new store opening in Illinois next year which will be the largest in the country. They are going to have a mini museum in the store and want to use his work. He is also the V.P. for the Illinois chapter for S.C.I. He has a website and is located in Paletine ,IL . The pics on his website don't do his his room justice , he has twice that. I recommend visiting his trophy room, its something you will never forget.

You have to think about years down the road what your mount will look like. Dont take it to the cheapest place in town. This is an investment and you want it to last your lifetime and many more. I know guys that do Taxidermy in there basements and will charge $175 plus materials, and others that charge in excess of $375. It all depends on the quality and durability that you want from your mount.
