OJR
Re: 30-06 I have never had one and I would try others first! Namely, Remington, Savage or Ruger. I have had much better luck with the Remington's and Savage's! My first choice is Tikka!
johnf
Re: 30-06 I have heard lots of really bad things about the mossberg atr 100 from a lot of people who don't own them. The people that I have talked to that own them all love them. They have all said that they have great accuracy and are very dependable. The only thing that I could say is that they are not a long term proven riffle. If you're on a budget I would also take a look at the New England Firearms handi rifle. These are very accurate, very reliable guns and with the spare cash you can get a better scope.
brad dryden
Re: 30-06 I baught mine at wal-mart its a remington and I love it. Took a deer at about 180yds and droped it. I would recomend it.
firefighter
Re: 30-06 I use a ruger 30-06 , never had any problems with it and its a great gun to use ........
spyderpancake
Re: 30-06 you can get a Stevens model 200 for just as cheap, and it is basically a Savage without the accutrigger. From what i have read they are by far the best deal for the money. You can get one for right at $300.
Jeramie
Re: 30-06 You can buy a Savage for close to the same money. I would also nose around in some Pawn shops. Ive found a good deal or two in there on occasion, especially if youre holding cash. The mossberg is getting some bad press. Id personally look for something that has been around longer and has a good rep. Its not sawying that the Mossberg brand isnt good, they make great guns, but the rifle's press is all over the place. Start looking for a Ruger, Remington, Winchester, Savage, H&R (NEF), etc. I honestly think you can find a rifle that is known to perform for the same cash. ousoonerfan22
Re: 30-06 I shot a ruger 77 30-06 for years and it's a good gun but the remington 700 has a nicer trigger. I used to reload rounds for my 30-06 and I liked the 165 grain nosler ballistic tips.My son is shooting the federal premium 165 grain fusion in his remington 700. Bowhntr
Re: 30-06 If you are on a very tight budget look at the Savage or the New England. If you have a little extra look at the Remington 700. In my opinion, for the money, the Savage is the finest bolt action built. There are better but dollar for dollar the Savage is great. hunting_boy
Re: 30-06 browning is the best of all guns on the market but you need anywere from 1000 to 5000 dollars but they will last a million years it seems
TexasDeerHunter
Re: 30-06 Don't know where you buy your Brownings hunting boy, but here they start around $485. My only hang up with them is that they have a big ol made in Japan stamp on the barrell, not that they are bad guns. I just have a hard time buying that. I would recommend buying American.
