If you had $400 to spend and wanted a couple game cams, which would you buy? Would you buy one somebody made or factory? One for $400 and high factory quality or 2 or more cams for a cheaper price and not so good of quality but you get more coverage of different areas? Do the home brews matchup for the cost and quality of a factory cam? Thanks fellas.

I am with bond. Quality of the homebrews are second to none. The advancements made in the controller boards thats we use in homebrews are leading the way.

Who would you recommend I go to? My buddy is the one wanting to purchase these and he want's the whole kit and kaboodle. He's willing to spend the money to get good pictures at not too high of a resolution but clear and accurate. Does using an SD card make sense or somthing different? He's not computer savvy but I sort of am and switching out SD cards makes more sense since I have a Kodak cam that reads SD and can go up to 2G. Thanks again fellas.

I would also follow Bonds advice here. Got a leaf river digital cam, and it has been great for us, digital is the way to go for sure. Definitely get extra cards for swapping out and if you need a reader, get a reader.

Will be building my first homebrew with a sony 3.2 mp camera as soon as my pixcontroller kit gets here. Am really looking forward to seeing how it will work.

Sent you a pm Bowjoe.

If you're not interested in building your own, here's a few people that sell homebrews, although they're quite a bit more expensive than what you can build one for.

http://www.woodlandspycam.com/

http://www.snapshotsniper.com/

http://trailcam.arkansasusa.com/

http://yeticam.com/

You can also browse the classifieds on the homebrew forums. If you watch, you can get some pretty good deals.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

bond you should start selling some of those bad boys!! You pics are always clear and good , seems that way

I always thought about it. I build them for friends or more like they see that my cameras are way better than what they have and then force me to sell one to them and I have to build another one for myself. That's hard enough, maybe if I get more customers and more feedback, I'd trust myself selling them to other people.

Home brew is the only way to go it you want the best for you money. I have had alot of people ask me to build them one but I put way to many hour into it to come out ahead. I am sure bond will concur with this. You save money because you build it. I have 4 built so far and am working on two more. It is something you just have to do for yourself. Most people are afraid they will not be able to do it so they never try. I was like that four years ago and decided hey I will just try one. I am on number 6 now and I will try a video cam next spring. You will be amazed at how easy but time consuming this is. Give it a try. grin.gif
