RangerClay
I have been shooting Federal Premiums with Nosler Partition bullets out of my 30-30 for many years and I have been very satisfied. But these new Hornady pointed bullets for the 30-30 have me curious. They call them The Lever Revolution. What do I stand to gain from a pointed bullet? Thanks Ranger

Guest gahuntr29
Re: The Lever Revolution I have tried these out this year when they came out and have been very impressed. I shoot a .35 cal 200 Gr bullet and the accuracy improved greatly from the old ammo i have used. Groups in my gun (Marlin 336CS) immediatly raised about 3/4 of an inch and grouped better than they ever have before.
AJ
Re: The Lever Revolution If your gun likes the ammo, you may get better accuracy. You will get a longer useable range from your cartridge (not necessarily accuracy) but the trajectory will be flatter and the bullet will carry more energy downrange. If you kill most of your deer within 75 yards, you will not see any difference.
johnf
Re: The Lever Revolution If you reloaded could you load a pointed 30 call bullet and put one in the chamber and one in the tube and get the same results? I know you wouldn't want them stacked with hard noses, but with only one in the tube what would it hurt? What kind of ballistics could you expect? Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: The Lever Revolution Might it out shoot the 300 Savage is my question? Not literally out shoot as far as accuracy is concerned though I bet mine will, LOL, but be able to hold me ft/lbs of energy than the 300 and then ....Hmmm I have thought for a long time of having a friend of mine load some pointed bullets just for the first shot and second shots for my gun. Heck. Like I need nine shots!!! Now, I can load one pointed after another and wack them at 200 much more comfortable. I hope!!
njbowhntr
Re: The Lever Revolution I am looking forward to hitting the range with the .30-30 ammo. I shoot a Marlin 336C topped with a Burris Scout 2.75x. I should be at the range with it in about a month. I will post picks of the results when I finally shoot it. too_pointer
Re: The Lever Revolution I think it's great that something new has come along that can make such a big change. I'm no expert in the levers, and always wanted one. At least the tv commercials sure make them look great. I anxious to see the results from you guys in here. too_
RangerClay
Re: The Lever Revolution I found a dealer who sells the ammo near me. I will post some picks when it gets cool enough to go shooting. Ranger

RangerClay
Re: The Lever Revolution Wow! I went to Gander Mountain and they carry these bullets. Unfortunately they are sold out of the 30-30's Plus to make matters worse, they don't expect any for a month. The distributers are all out of these bullets because they are such a hot item. I'm going to check another spot next week and I will hopefully post an update with pics. Ranger
