RangerClay
I just found out that they reopened my DMU (Deer Management Unit) 7M for doe permits again. Plus the odds of getting permit are a "Medium". Which is pretty good. This will be such a relief to the five of us who hunt together. That is because this last season we could easily have 20 does run by us on almost every drive and NO doe permits were issued at all last year. Now we can focus on evening our buck/doe ratio again. I am a very happy man! Ranger
BowJoe
Re: Woohoo #2!!!!!!!!!!!!! You mean to tell me they don't even encourage doe harvest in New York? That'a crazy.
Tominator
Re: Woohoo #2!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good for you Ranger. Good luck. I can count on one hand how many times I've had a doe in range in the last 2 years.
wtnhunt
Re: Woohoo #2!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good they reopened it so you can thin the does some, hope they attempt to manage it. Been kind of crazy here the past several years. Seems the twra is out to make a major dent in the deer heard in Tennessee with more and more liberal limits on does each year. Am afraid if it continues at the current pace the herd in this area is going to be in a lot of trouble. While the ratios buck/doe may be somewhat better, I just dont see near the numbers of deer I was seeing just 3 years ago.
