Signed # 404 and commented.

Signing petitions and speaking up is true democracy at work not to use it is to give up liberty. That is exactly what the WHA hopes for. I got an email today from a WHA supporter telling me that they will carry on and that the voices of opposition soon will stop. That is what they hope for and because of that we must carry on and keep taps on what is going on.

I have posted the link to the petition on three other forums and sent 50 links per emails to friends that are not members of this or any of the other forums. I also sent the link to some veterinarians I know. I requested that they all forward the link to their friends and family too.

As soon I had a shower, just came from work, and ate dinner I am going to make a posting about the petition on my blog.

"This is not over until the fat lady is done singing!"

I wrote Greg Russell, and asked him what he was going to do with the petition, once he had thousands of signatures on it. Here was his reply

Steve,

Good question, but I believe it will be sent to David Farbman, who is the president of the WHA.

Thanks for your support and concern about protecting our hunting heritage.

[/ QUOTE ]

I really think sending it to Farbman is useless, and a waste of a good petition. Why don't you guys drop Greg an email and give him some better ideas on where to send copies.

You can reach Greg Russell at [email protected]

I have sent Greg Russell an email suggesting that he also send copies of the petition to the media and political reps.

Sending it to the WHA alone will do not much good, in my opinion, as they are just not listening. Several emails from WHA supporters to me give me the distinct impression that they do not give a rats hairy behind about the hunters opinions.

Re: On-Line Petition Against The WHA! Please Sign!!!

Hey all, Greg Russell here. I`ve received some of your suggestions, and I`ve done exactly as you`ve recommended. I`ve sent e-mails to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, as well as the DC offices of Indiana Senators Evan Bayh and Richard Lugar to see if they can bring any political pressure to bear on the WHA.

I would like to thank all of you, as well as commend you all for the passion you all have for our rich hunting heritage, and the willingness you show to step up and be counted for a good cause.

Please, don`t hesitate to brainstorm and figure out new ways to bring even more pressure on Mr. Farbman and the WHA. Anything and everything we can do to put heat on them makes it just a little more uncomfortable for them to operate.

I got word that one trappers group in my home state of Indiana is against the petition, as they feel this will be an opening for anti-hunting, anti-trapping groups to put pressure on them. In one sense I can understand where they`re coming from, as I know trapping has taken even more heat than hunting, but don`t be confused. Standing up, and speaking out against the WHA and what they`re proposing is exactly the right thing to do, and I would submit to you that doing the right thing is necessary regardless of the outcome.

Again, thank you to all of you folks for caring about our hunting heritage enough to become involved, and let`s see this thing through. You may want to contact your Senators as well as see what they think.

Keep in touch, and again, thanks for all your support.

Greg
