Jeramie
Im not a recurve shooter at all. Dad is getting back into bow hunting this year (after about 15 or more years off). He will only shoot a recurve and has no interest in Compounds at all. He needed some arrows for his old bow. I buy at least a half dozen goldtips every year. I have hords of those things laying around right now. I set up 4 in a 5575 shaft and sent them with him last night (100grn fp). His old recurve is 50lb. Honestly I think they will be fine. Ive been shooting those same arrows out of 60 and 70lb bows for years. I just wanted to be sure I hadnt messed up.... Wadda ya think? jgbennett6
Re: Did I hose up? I'm pretty sure your going to need arounf 250 grains up fron at least to use those arrows, tehy will work great, however i would put in some 100 or 150 grain inserts and beef up the front end weight. but they should work. Gator
Re: Did I hose up? If anything they may be to stiff, but I think VT uses the 5575 out of his recurve......
hutchies
Re: Did I hose up? Never shot a recurve and don't know alot about it but I do know that they will probably be too stiff spined. That shouldn't be a problem seeing as he will probably only shoot 20 yards.
jgbennett6
Re: Did I hose up? well i twould be a problem, because any untuned arrow is not flying to its true potential. taking away from its total energy is not good and can limit penetration and accuracy. I would honestly add a bunch of front end weight adn nock point, you should eb able to use teh 5575's .. jsut need to tune them
magnatecsteve
Re: Did I hose up? Recurves are cut out to be pretty close to center shot, so spine shouldn't be TOO much of an issue, but they may not fly as true as a better matched arrow. I would DEFINATELY get some weight tube inserts to add total mass and F.O.C... By the way, they have feathers right?? Best of luck to you and your Dad!! I'm giong for my first kill with my recurve this season as well...
jgbennett6
Re: Did I hose up? i think spine will def be an issue, i used 5575's for a 65lb bow that aws cut past center and was putting out decent energy and i still needed 150 grains up front... the only way i see it is you need to up the front weight or you need to be shooting off of a flipper style rest
