RyanH
Welll guys today I bought a Encore. But I bought just the frame. Im trying to decide on what barrel i want. I think I want a 22.250 for yote hunting, but I kinda also want a caliber so that I can hunt alot of different things. Please give me some input! hutchies
Re: Encore? [ QUOTE ] 243 can go a bunch of directions [/ QUOTE ] Normally it just goes straight ahead though.........Sorry couldn't help myself. Yeah probably a .243, If you are planning to only use it on yotes and light game I would say a 22-250. I really am thinking about getting myself a 243 WSSM. With a 55 grain balistic tip it only drops 12 inches at 400 yards. Only 5 inches at 300.
VTbowman
Re: Encore? 7mm08 would be another to look at. 243 would be better for the smaller of small game. The 7-08 could take yotes to elk. JMO

RyanH
Re: Encore? Hutch I only own a 30-06. I believe I might go with the 25-06 so i can hunt yotes, and also take a deer if needed!
hutchies
Re: Encore? .243 will take deer besides you got a .30-06. I would get a .22-250 or a .243WSSM, both are great yote calibers cause you can reach out there and touchem at 500 yards with very little drop. Shaun_300
Re: Encore? I'd get the .22-250, .243 WSSM or .223 WSSM. All of those would be great varmint calibers and they're all capable of taking deer as well.

So that really wont be an option. As I am sure you know the .223, 22-250, 25-06 all will work on yotes. 243 will work on yotes and deer. If you want a bit more gun than a 243 than go with the a 270. But as Hutchies said you have an 30-06 so you could use that on deer. I have a 270 and a 223, both are awesome. Goodluck!!
hutchies
Re: Encore? Never looked into getting a TC so I didn't know but I really thing a .243 would be your best option Ryan.
too_pointer
Re: Encore? If you are looking to use it on deer, the .243 is the smallest calibur I would use. I have a 25-06 that will do everything you want, but I wouldn't think it is a great elk calibur. You need to think about the different game you might want to hunt. too_
