Chrud
With many of the major bow manufactures releasing all or part of their 2005 line-ups, how many of you guys are thinking of getting a new bow for 2005? I've had a few upgrades planned for my '04 XTEC, but it would just about bust even if I traded it for a new 2005. I plan on trading it for a 2005 Mathews Outback or Switchback or maybe a 2005 Hoyt VTEC. I'm not too jazzed up about the VTEC, I think it looks a little funny (the new Advanced TEC risers). If the Outback and Switchback are even, the unbelieveable speed of the Switchback might sway me. How about everyone else? Any bows sparking interest in a new one for the upcoming year? Tax season isn't too far away.
Stinger-Hunter
Re: New Bows for 2005 I'm definately getting new bow next year. Not sure which one yet, though. I plan on shooting a few hoyts and may even try a few matthews. I'm getting my money's worth on my PSE nova til the end of the year.
Guest cyberhoyt
Re: New Bows for 2005 Chrud, I was not to Jazzed about the Vtec myself, but now I own one, and let me tell you, there ain't nothing like it. I did a side by side comparison with the outback, NO COMPARISON!!! Tha Vtec is an Awesome bow, now don't get me wrong the Outback is an Awesome bow in it's own rights, and I would never shun anyone for owning one, Mathews makes a great product, I don't think anyone disputes that. But this new Vtec, well, it makes the Xtec seem a little obsolete. I can't say about the Switchback, it to also looks like Mathews has another winner on it's hands, but if you liked your Xtec, you need to give a side by side comparison, most pro shop's will let you do this, take both of them to their range and shoot, and you will see what I am talking about, I PROMISE

lil hunter
Re: New Bows for 2005 s much as I'd like one, I'm not gettin a new bow til I can drive.(well, til the summer before I can drive) because right now, the only time I can bowhunt is when dad feels like taking me. I would really like a new bow this year though.
ScottyLuck
Re: New Bows for 2005 If I do it will be another Mathews. I was at my proshop tonight talking with the guy about the new Mathews. He has 25 Switchbacks coming in in about 2 weeks. 12 of which are already sold. Gonna shoot one when they come in. If I like it I may sell my Legacy and order a Switchback. We'll see...
Guest antlers21
Re: New Bows for 2005 I dont know, I have a lot invested in my outback and would like to keep it but sometimes I get swayed and things happen. I had a hoyt razortec in 2003 and a martin cougar before that so that is three new bows in three years. No wonder why the wife left me! Later. Chrud
Re: New Bows for 2005 [ QUOTE ] But this new Vtec, well, it makes the Xtec seem a little obsolete. [/ QUOTE ] I don't see how. It has a different riser design, grip and alpha shocks. ALL the other specs are the same. That is one thing I don't like about Hoyt. They keep a bow for a couple years and then replace it. All the new bows are pretty much identical to another bow, just with a little modification here and there. I don't see why they need two nearly identical bows in their lineup.
ScottyLuck
Re: New Bows for 2005 [ QUOTE ] Scotty, tell me your not gonna put your outback on the shelf and use the switchback. The outback needs to be in the woods not on a shelf as a backup. andy [/ QUOTE ] We'll see, Andy. I'm surprised you're not trying to talk me into an LX! Guest okiehunter
Re: New Bows for 2005 I have a new Hoyt Vtec on layaway. I have shot both the outback and the vtec and for me I loved the way the vtec shot over the outback. I have yet to shoot the switchback, but I don't see anything that would make me want the switchback over the vtec.
Pinwheel5
Re: New Bows for 2005 I sold my Liberty today after getting my hands on the new BowTech Allegience. The cams on this bow are really neat on how simple they are and how they take all the timing and synchronization issues away. I may order the 37" Old Glory. But, we just picked up Hoyt and I may wait until we get the VTec in and see how it compares.
