Guest elk5bs
I have a ML elk tag. I have a Omega 50cal. This will be my first hunt with a ML. I need some help in picking the best sabot or conical. Any info would help. Thanks
WABS
Re: elk hunt When I went out to Idaho with my .50 cal Black Diamond I was loaded with 348 gr Powerbelts. I'd give them a try.

257bob
Re: elk hunt I would opt for a 250 grain bullet. I like the SST lock-n-loads and the thompson center shockwaves. Thompson Center just came out with a bonded shockwave that might be a good choice too. I have not shot the bonded bullet yet, but have had great success with the other two mentioned. [/ QUOTE ] Bob, have you had success with the 250s on elk? just curious. I have always considered 300gr the starting point for elk, with the heaviest bullet you shoot accurately being the better choice. too_pointer
Re: elk hunt 250 grain is still a heavy bullet. It will take down a bull easily. You need to find the one that is accurate out of your gun. Elk huh, you lucky dog too_
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: elk hunt Nice tag to draw----Hope's it's a bull tag. I've used the T/C maxi-ball on my Colorado bulls. Good luck on the hunt. CB
